Basketball Nebrasketball commit Nick Janowski drops 40 points in game

Good stuff from Janowski, who's signed to Nebraska's 2024 class.

“Nick is one of the purest shooters that I've seen at that age,” Fred Hoiberg said in November.

Sets, matches and common opponents

I know none of this matters on Sunday night, but thought it looked interesting.

First the records Texas is 27-4 while Nebraska is 33-1

Common opponents Texas is 3-3 while Nebraska is 7-1

Common opponents were Long Beach State Texas lost 1-3 and Nebraska was 3-0
Minnesota Texas won 3-1 and we won 3-0 and 3-1
Stanford Texas lost 0-3 in Austin and we won 3-1 at Stanford
OSU Texas won 3-1 and we swept them 3-0
Kansas State swept Texas 0-3 and we swept Kansas State. Both matches were played in Manhattan.
Then we have Wisconsin. Texas won 3-1 on a neutral court, and we beat Wisconsin at home 3-2 and they swept at their place.

Texas lost a total of 28 sets all year, where we only lost 19.

Now three of their losses were in September, with only the KSU match in November.

Both teams have lost 9 sets since 1 November.

It is going to be a great match. Nebraska wins in 5.

Adrian Martinez Method Again

You don't throw puzzle pieces into the trash because one puzzle piece is shiny and bright. Not saying I don't want Raiola, but you don't kick the other necessary pieces out because you got the one you were initially looking for.

McCord is 100% necessary, and if we lose him, Kaelin and Purdy is he really worth it? IMO no he is not, and I am tired of this BS

Football Portal DB to keep an eye on

It was a wild day with all the news flying around Monday on Raiola, McCord, Fleming, plus Gifford and Benhart returning + Sims officially hitting the portal. Through it all, forgot to address this:

Nebraska may be looking to add a defensive back out of the portal, and I've been told to be on the lookout for this one: 6-foot-3, 195-pounder Blye Hill out of FCS program Saint Francis. He's a big-bodied athlete with three years of eligibility remaining, and I was told Monday that the Huskers have given him a long look. And then he announced an official visit to Nebraska for the upcoming weekend (Dec. 15-16), so we'll be tracking.

Hill recorded 21 tackles (17 solo) with two interceptions, six pass breakups and one TFL as a true freshman at Saint Francis last season. He's a native of Maryland, where he finished with 22 PBUs and a pair of interceptions at Mount Saint Joseph High School (13 PBUs and one interception as a senior)

LNK airport has new destinations

"Coach Rhule and Coach Cook were among those most excited for Lincoln Airport's new flights"

Why DR comes to Nebraska

We’re nervous about DR playing for us until the ink is dry. The McCord and Kaelin situations are unsettling, but for different reasons.

I don’t think we’ll ever know all of the details regarding McCord, other than he’s looking for guarantees that we are unwilling to make. I suspect the money was fine.

Kaelin, on the other hand, was a major tell. He knows more than we do and it seems he knows will be facing competition from one of the highest rated quarterbacks coming out of high school with the same number of years of eligibility. It’s a bit of a blow to his pride because he has put in a lot of work for Nebraska and he was laying the groundwork for a future here until thrown this curveball. Maybe he still wears the red for a couple years and then things are different and he can still transfer out I don’t know. If he leaves, I don’t fault the kid. But I hope he stays because injuries are a part of football.

With regard to DR, I think he’s coming to visit, partly to meet the coaches but mostly to sort out the details financially. He’s gonna make a bunch of money and his odds of playing early here are fantastic, especially if he watched any of our games last year. These are two considerations. I also think he has a genuine affinity for Nebraska in how much his family name means to this state and university.

I refuse to believe his old man is going to let him use Nebraska to leverage more out of Georgia. That would be deeply embarrassing to uncle Don. Not gonna happen. Georgia obviously makes sense, but they are not devastated by losing a highschooler, even a five star. Their room is stacked and will continue to be so. They are negotiating from a position of strength. Who knows, maybe they are not fulfilling some promises to the Raiola family.

My personal belief is Coach Rhule is a worker and a closer. He dialed into the right frequency with this kid and got the deal done.

Volleyball Game Thread ***LIVE THREAD: Nebraska sweeps Pitt (25-20, 25-23, 25-17) and heads to Sunday's national title match

Is a Neb-Pitt volleyball thread allowed? Cancelled a business meeting tonight to make sure I could watch it.

Excited for this match, worried/scared if we have a Wisconsin rematch. We beat them at home, but they match up with us better than anybody else and as much as he irritates me, there coach is good.
