Official thread for nervous/irrational/curse-related QB posts

This can be a welcoming thread for anyone who needs to vent the dark thoughts that come from being a Nebraska fan for the last 20 years. These posts don't need to be rational, they just need to get out of our systems. I'll go first (deep breath...)

Hi everyone, my name is huskerj12 and I am a Husker fan.

Clearly the idea of the #1 QB in the country coming to Nebraska would be incredible and should be celebrated...

...Maybe I'm a stereotypical self-loathing Husker fan but I'm having trouble putting all my hopes and dreams into Raiola haha. ESPECIALLY knowing that Raiola committing here would all but confirm that he will be our starting QB next year. Super talent?Absolutely. Nebraska runs in his veins? Sure. But I just can never fully trust the type of recruits who move all around the country chasing recruiting clout and treating the college decision process like a fickle Bachelor contestant.

None of that would bother me much if we had a returning QB who was going to keep the ship steady while Raiola gets his feet wet as a freshman. Our program is in very trustworthy hands with Rhule, but it's STILL like a wobbly Jenga tower right now. Handing Raiola the keys to the kingdom could be genius, but it could also get weird in a very important year. Again, the dude is ultra talented, but he went to 3 different high schools in 3 different states, he has committed to two of the top programs in the country and apparently will end up decommitting from both, I know this is corny as hell to think about but a big part of me is like, has this guy had enough of a chance to develop the intangibles of being a QB to take over a program on day 1? Leadership, trust, real life bonds with teammates, adversity, things like that? I mean he literally hasn't even gone through an offseason with a team he played for since he was 15 years old.

This is all nervous speculation, I will gladly laugh at myself if/when this all turns out to be ridiculous, but I CAN'T HELP HOW I FEEL. People who watched Friday Night Lights know what I'm talking about- I'm worried about him being Nebraska's version of JD McCoy, ok?? 😨

Don’t Forget: Michigan cheats

I know there’s a lot of this and that about the portal, NIL, etc etc. But don’t forget that Jim Harbaugh and Michigan are a bunch of cheating cheaters. And that Bo Schembechler was cool with his team doctor sexually assaulting students, including his own son. And that Jim Harbaugh enjoys sleepovers with the young men he is recruiting.

We eat our own

As another poster mentioned in a previous thread, if DR committed to us the day after the Iowa game (meaning McCord and Fleming were never mentioned), and then a large majority of our 50/50 players who could chose to stay or come back, all decided to come back for another year (making our defense and o line much stronger), we would have all be elated.

***New Commit*** Bishop Gorman (Las Vegas) 2024 OT Xander Ruggeroli is N

Win some, lose some in recruiting, ayy? Nebraska officially lands 2024 OT Xander Ruggeroli out of Las Vegas powerhouse Bishop Gorman. The 6-7, 285-pounder is the Huskers' sixth OL commitment and 26th overall commitment in their 2024 class:

More trouble for Michigan (basketball this time)

Howard is being investigated for a "heated dispute" with their strength & conditioning coach. Howard is already working under a zero-toiereance policy because of his past discretions, so this could be the end of the road for him. Investigation is pending.

The altercation apparently had something to do with Howard's kid not being cleared for participation coming back from a stress fracture in his knee/leg.

Silent night

We can hope it will be anyway.

Oh well, all of this real and unreal news must be good for the Husker message boards’ business. Maybe they got together this week and made up all of this stuff just to get eyeballs. If so, it worked very well. I think I have been here at least 50 times since Monday afternoon.

Daniel Kaelin (Danny Dimes)

Thought I'd do the board a solid and post his stats. His senior year wasn't as impressive stats wise as his junior year, which was very good, but it wasn't bad, either. His career stats are still impressive and I hope he sticks with NU. History is full of dudes coming in and beating out the higher rated guy.

Kirk Cousins outplayed RG3
Brock Purdy beating out the NDSU kid (I realize they were one draft class apart)
Zac Taylor beating out Harrison Beck
Not a QB, but Abdullah and Helu were both afterthoughts to the fanbase in their classes.

Anyway, without further ado:

JR: 63.6% 290 yds/g 36TD 7 Int 115.4 QBR
SR: 58.6% 203 yds/g 17TD 6 Int 89.9 QBR
TTL: 61.0% 6163 yds. 58 TD 13 Int 103.0 QBR

Pretty good stats. He takes care of the ball. Yards are decent. Need to get his completion percentage up. TD/g is not great. Either way, I think the talent is there, but probably needs a few seasons to continue to refine his game. And lastly, I'm not sure why the drop in productivity this year. I know his two stud wide receivers were injured for a lot of the year and his OL was a sieve. Maybe some local NE Prep football people know more of that story.

If Rhule pulls this off...

Coach Rhule is the goat. If he pulls this recruiting grab off, with two 5 star QBs, one 5 star WR, and now we are hearing about sophomore Florida RB possibly coming to town. Plus the amount of upper classmen choosing to come back.

Holy sh!t what a recruiter. "Scott hold my beer."

This sh!t is unbelievable. Thank you to AD Alberts for hiring Coach Matt Rhule...

The glass half empty people...

Have been all over the spectrum of doom and gloom since McCord & Riola visits were announced to now, "but then Kaelin will leave if they sign and then if they don't sign then we lose all three". Damn. I hope that these folks while brushing their teeth in the morning don't think of all the rotten things that are bound to happen to them today because they are Husker "fans." Have a little faith, Baby, have a little faith.
