Football Sources: Kyle McCord no longer considering Nebraska, more on the Huskers' QB situation

Multiple sources have confirmed: Kyle McCord is no longer considering Nebraska. The two sides have parted ways.

On Monday afternoon, sources indicated that things were shifting in the Dylan Raiola recruitment and that Nebraska was back in the race. Then, the news broke nationally and locally that the Huskers were making a late push to flip him from Georgia. As of Monday afternoon, sources indicated that Nebraska still felt good about its chances to land both McCord and Julian Fleming.

All throughout Wednesday morning and afternoon, though, things began to shift yet again. I was exchanging texts back and forth with five different sources all throughout the day trying to get the best read on the QB situation. Spoke with them about all things related to the recruitments of Raiola, McCord, Daniel Kaelin and the Huskers' potential to bring in an outside hire at QB coach or hiring an analyst to work with the QBs. It was trending toward this evening's news that is now concrete: McCord is moving on from the Huskers as his next landing spot.

As for Fleming, his stance with Nebraska – at least to my knowledge – is unknown. He was on campus Tuesday and Wednesday for a visit, but I do not know how the situation with McCord will affect him. I'm not going to further speculate, but I wanted to address Fleming here as well.

I'm working on finding out plenty more on, well, everyone and everything I just mentioned above. But that's all to report for now. Stay tuned. No matter the outcome, I would rank this as the craziest recruiting story – from end-to-end – that I've ever covered myself over the last five years.

DR timing question and a possible recruiting edge

I'm honestly not sure what day/time he's ending his trip. Anyone know (I probably missed it)?

I was just thinking there's probably a watch location in Lincoln (Devaney Center) for fans to gather to watch the volleyball match. Would have to think if he's still around he'll be attending. It'd be great for him to see some more how much we support our teams and not just football. Throw in a Husker bball W and that'll look even better.

If Raiola is a done deal this weekend…….

Nebraska needs to build Dylan an offensive line that can protect this kid, allow him to grow as the season goes on without him running for his life on every pass play.

Can Nebraska add a quality oline from the portal to go along with a wideout that can be Raiola’s safety net so to speak, we have too many unknowns in the Wr room. And can Fidone improve both his confidence and physical readiness, laterally to possibly be another go to receiver?

Can the backs be an integral part of the passing game as well, when Ervin and R Johnson are healthy, they have both shown they can be, can Johnson as well, thought he was a very pleasant surprise this past season.

Is there enough NIL for all Husker sports?

Obviously, this is a football board with occasional threads about VB, BB and wrestling among others.

Currently, VB is a National power, FB and BB (men's and women's) are just OK, wrestling seems to on the upswing. Guess you could throw in track, bowling, rifle and the rest.

My question(s) is, if all major sports were suddenly at the top and going for the top athletes in their sports, would there be enough NIL money to go around and what would that number be?
