Why did Rhule pick Sims?

There had to be better options out in the portal for us to get. Admittedly I didn't watch anything from GT but I checked Sims stats and the interceptions almost reminded me of how abysmal Tanner Lee was for us. But I heard the kid can run so I gave him the benefit of the doubt.

Right now, I have NO doubt Sims needs benched. That, or switch him with Haarberg and make Haarburg a QB while Sims is a receiver. But that won't work since Sims dropped multiple snaps too.

This is a repeat of 2021 except our offense is shit.

Football Needing all the reps he can get, Thomas Fidone II continuing to develop on the field

Good stuff from Thomas Fidone II today. I know everyone wants him to be awesome right away, but the truth is these are the first real games of his college career. It will take time for him to adjust to it.

He had to laugh when he was asked about his welcome-to-college-football moment, which I went back and found from the 2021 Wisconsin game:

Football The Checkdown: Young Husker D-linemen on the rise, loaded fronts and more

Each Tuesday I'll have The Checkdown, a column where I write about whatever caught my eye during the game and rewatch. Today, we're focusing on Tony White's defense and the young defensive linemen who flashed:

Taking back Saturdays

After decades of dedicating my Saturdays (or others) to Cornhusker football, I decided before this year began to watch the games at the end of the day instead. On my own schedule, no commercials, etc.

So far, it's paid off in a big way. I've been able to enjoy the beautiful weather, get projects down around the house, meet some awesome new people, and really appreciate and be thankful for things in life.

Oh I still hope we win, will cheer on the team, and watch the games but it's not what it used to be.

Peace.

Where were you: 9/11

Those of us old enough to remember, what is your memory of where you were when you heard the news and what you did the rest of the day?

I was driving to work (about 10 minutes into a 25 minute drive) when my local radio broadcast was interrupted. At that time all that was being reported was that a large plane had hit the first tower. I got to work and turned on the TV and of course not too much later the Pentagon and second tower were hit, along with Flight 93 going down. I did no work and just watched the news stations all day. I remember the utter confusion, anxiety, and fright from everyone because of the uncertainty that followed. I had such a deep anger and sadness from that day to the months that followed. I've never had a feeling like that before or since. God Bless America and GBR!

Grant Brix

Had an opportunity to watch him Friday. He is a physical specimen for sure especially against Iowa 1A teams. LM got handled pretty good by WC. Can't say that I was that impressed. Watched the game with a friend that is a high school coach and played college ball. He was disappointed in the effort.

Football Nebraska Depth Chart: Northern Illinois, Coleman and Lloyd move up

Only changes made on the depth chart for the Northern Illinois game come at WR:

Marcus Washington now officially listed as a starter; Malachi Coleman and Jaylen Lloyd now listed as co-backups behind Alex Bullock. Here's the full two-deep:

Satterfield is taking a lot

Of heat locally and nationally but so far I don’t think the play calling has been bad. I’ve liked the commitment to the run game for the most part. Had great potential drives in both games that were completely sabotaged by the QB. Think about it, the QB literally dropped shotgun snaps and couldn’t even fall on them.
Where he should take heat is if he was the one who insisted we focus on getting Sims over all others. Not sure how that all went down.

Von Sheppard

I noticed in the obit section of my Nebraska Alum mag that Von Sheppard passed away in April of this year. Of course I may have missed it, but I don't recall seeing anything about this on the boards and a quick search didn't turn up anything. I enjoyed watching him play, Nebraska has had some amazing wingbacks over the years and he was right up there with the best of them.
