You guys have a pretty easy schedule all things considered

You get Michigan in Harbaugh's return, but it's at home. Should be a hornet's nest for Michigan. Only 1 other game against a ranked team and that's @Wisconsin. Iowa may end up ranked but it's the last game at home. Things should have gelled by then. In all honesty, win at CU and your season might be a very interesting one. Could be another one of those 8-9 win seasons you're known for if the ball bounces right. That assumes you win at CU. Lose and bowl eligibility probably becomes the main goal.

Volleyball Game Thread FINAL: No. 4 Nebraska 3, No. 16 Creighton 1

Just one week after playing Nebraska play in front of 92K people, I'm back at the Devaney Center to see No. 4 Nebraska take on in-state rival and No. 16 Creighton to renew this in-state rivalry. CU has yet to play Omaha, but if the Huskers win tonight they'll seal up a 2-0 record against in-state competition and lock up the "state championship" as NU calls it.

Wednesday sees the Bluejays come back to the Devaney Center for the first time since 2019. Senior middle blocker Kiana Schmitt is the only Creighton player to have experienced Devaney back then. There was no matchup in 2020 while both teams played at CHI in 2021. They returned to Omaha in 2022 with CHI being the host of the Final Four that season. CU is 0-21 all-time against the Huskers, but 0-19 since restarting the volleyball program back in 1994.

To get you set for tonight's matchup while taking a deeper dive into the Bluejays, here is my preview from this morning.

Plus, comments from head coach John Cook on the matchup and the week ahead for NU.

Also releasing this morning, this week's Players' Corner featuring Bekka Allick and Harper Murray.

Gameplan should be obvious

TCU ran the ball for 8 yards per carry and shouldn't have passed much at all. You should never lose a game when you rush for that kind of yardage. We need to brutalize CU over and over with Gabe behind a fullback, limiting the number of possessions as much as possible. Don't give them opportunities to make picks. Even if it isn't real successful early on, we need to stick with it. Something about getting your brains bashed in takes away your will to play and strips your confidence. I know our line isn't the greatest but we are huge and should just lean on them all game. I saw the line of scrimmage get moved in the positive direction against Minny on several occasions. Lets see how tough they are and what kind of depth they have on the D line and at linebacker.
In the last several years, teams have always played with extreme confidence against us because we just weren't physical enough which is why every qb looks like Brady and every receiver looks like Jerry Rice making insane catches. I wasn't able to watch much of the CU/TCU game yesterday, but I did notice a couple of the buffs yelling at each other after a series that didn't go well. They will get extremely frustrated if they have to stand on the sidelines most of the first half and will play hero ball when they get in. Which leads to turnovers and more finger pointing.
We have a better defense and special teams than CU, so we should follow the Iowa model of winning (boring). Eventually, they will overcommit to stopping the run and then you hit them with play action.
This concludes my posting of the painfully obvious for this morning.

If we are going to talk about curses, isn't this week the time to break it?

If you ask 100 Husker fans to explain the moment they observed the death of Nebraska football, the majority would point to one game.

70% of those fans would tell you it occurred in 2001 when Colorado destroyed Husker football, 62-36.

At that time, Husker fans were complacent after 30+ seasons of domination. We became lazy and privileged. Hell, to this day, many fans still expect Nebraska football to win every game, every time they take the field.

We tested God's will.
We tested God's favor.
We even tested God's Wrath when Satan kissed the hands of Matt Davison allowing him to catch a miracle vs. Mizzou in 1997. God knew Davison hailed from Southeast Nebraska where Satan rules over man and country. But Evil prevailed.

The Dark Lord of Richardson, Pawnee, and Johnson Counties in Nebraska dominated Husker football after Tom Osborne chose salvation. This test of fate lasted 5 years. God became vengeful.

In 2001, that wrath superceded Evil when Colorado gashed the Huskers like hot frosting on a rural Nebraska kolache.

Over the next 20 seasons, Husker football often resembled a Ford Escape posing next to a Mustang in front of its peers.

God pulled out and the curse became a comedic backdrop which flowed with our tears of heartache and despair. Game after game, Nebraska would compete and even lead late only to watch victory disappeer like a joint in front of a Boulder skate shop.

Wins and happiness have been fleeting.
Sadness has been a constant.
Does God hate us?
Does Got just hate me?
Does God hate you?
Does God just hate Tecumseh and Falls City and Rulo and Beatrice?

The answer is God cries for all of the above.

Saturday provides Husker football with a chance to sacrafice the goat. It gives us the opportunity to kill the first born. We have the chance to stare into the hollow tunnel of the Supernatural and excorcise the Demon of losing.

This Saturday, Nebraska Football can erase the curse. We can eradicate The Bison of Colorado in honor of our forefathers who got to those mountains and said, "fvck it. Im not climbing that shyt" and then they turned around and fed off that giant brown cow instead.

Go Big Red.

End that God Damned Curse.
