Haarberg Has Single-Handedly Reversed This Program’s Fortunes. 3-1 As Our Starter

We all know, that but i’ll give credit we’re credit is do and for now he is helping us win games along with that fine defensive we have.

2 huge stops especially to start the game that we’ve been missing for years..
No doubt. He plays hard. He sacrifices his body for the team. I like the kid. He just doesn’t have the accuracy he needs to be a high level QB. And that’s the hardest thing to get if you don’t have it.

disagree.

intangibles are the hardest thing to get if you don't have them.
At worst that even. I don’t think I’ve ever seen a college QB ever really improve either noticeably.

I’ve seen completion percentages increase. But rarely do you see a an inaccurate passer become accurate. And unfortunately HH has accuracy issues.

Heck of a runner. Tough nosed kid. Strong arm. But really struggles with accuracy. I’m rooting for the kid and I hope I’m proven wrong. I’d love to be proven wrong.

But I sure hope we get another portal QB that is a better passer.

He’s the guy you put in to not lose you a game. He’s not the guy that you put in to go win you a game. I hope he remembers that when they call pass plays. Hopefully, if he keeps this in mind, our D will do enough, often enough, to get us across the finish line.

Good point...this year.

If HH is not either the third string qb or an H-back kind of player next year, it's time to move on from Rhule. With the portal in use now in college football, putting an offense this inept on the field is simply not acceptable.
These guys are as predictable as farts from a loaded Taco Bell Burrito Supreme with Diablo sauce.

Goal line stands, calls reversed, balls bouncing our way

All started the instant an actual leader with an iron will and brass balls took charge

You absolutely love to see it

HH doesn’t give stuff away. Only 1 decision error on his Illinois interception since he has been a starter. Lot easier to win games when you are not handing it over to the opposition.

If you think that was his only error you haven't been watching. He should've had at least 3 interceptions in that game alone, multiple could've been returned for scores. Plus he fumbled. He can't drop it in over LBs because his release point is below his shoulders. I hope he improves and proves to be a starter, but he is below average at best currently.

His running kept us from another "coulda woulda shoulda" husker classic.

The INT was essentially a punt on a doomed drive, and the miss to Fidone wasn't pretty.

Other than that, he wasn't putting the ball on the ground and got multiple first downs that might have saved the game from heartbreak
Sure..... he's a game manager. Look I love the grittiness HH plays with. But the defense is who this team needs to learn on. Definitely not HH.

it's called complimentary football

I don't blame you for not recognizing it. it's been 20 years since we've played it consistently.

Wtf are you talking about man? We need a qb next year and a lot more to go with it. We got our asses handed to us last week and are not out of the woods tonight

If they plan on winning anything of relevance they better get a QB in the portal. HH is tough, physical and a competitor. I love him for all those characteristics. All that said he's not a very good QB (being nice). I hope he can get the most out of these guys this year and be ready to make a position switch after we get a QB who has some command of the passing game for next year .

Holla

Like when the D keeps giving them great field position on the opponents 25 yard line and the O gets a grand total of 10 points out of it?
Sure is better than the other way around, wouldn’t you say?

Anyone watching our team can tell we are playing without a true QB. We better recruit over HH, because Rhule won't be able to "win ugly" forever with him. We're going to need more than a 6'5 guy who gets 5 balls a half batted down due to his motion, and is lucky a bunch of his "should have been INTs" weren't actually converted.

He could, but is not likely to morph into an all conference caliber QB next year. NU is going to have to be a player with NIL money to go find a better qb. At the very least would be another capable body if HH takes some injury next year.

Tallest midget syndrome. Because he's the best doesn't mean he's good. Like you said just mean we need to get better everywhere on offense.

Holla
Just off the cuff, I don't know if we've been this bare at QB since we had the Cody Green and Rex-cat scenario.

Wrong. A game manager refers to someone who relies on surrounding talent and doesn't turn the ball over.

HH is the talent, he's the reason we're 3-3, not 1-5. Had he started the season, it's likely we're 4-2/5-1.

I'm genuinely curious why there's a small subset of you fans that are either in denial of, or actively wishing against his talent.

This isn't the NFL, you don't have to have a Caleb Williams to get wins. Guys like Max Duggan, Bo Nix, Collin Klein, etc aren't prototypical NFL QBs, but they have winning instincts and infectious leadership.

He's been extremely lucky so far. Every fumble from him we recovered and several easy INTs dropped. That won't continue if it's not cleaned up.

Look, I'm a HH guy and I think we've played a little better because of his leadership factor and he is a lot more outgoing in his leadership, but he had a Jeff Sims type of game on Friday. Dropped snaps, a ton of balls that should have been picked (against a good D they would have) and other issues. If he has another game like that we need to go to a 2 QB system and just ride the hot hand in each game and try to get our asses to a bowl game. I was hoping HH was turning the corner, but man he looked bad.

I agree HH has talent as an athlete. Hell Sims is a hell of an athlete as well and I think they could both be NFL tight ends, but both of them lack the ability to see the field when throwing and hell even running the option. I'm glad HH finally pitched it this weekend because he has missed quite a few of them including one early on in the ILL game that probably scores a TD.

Long winded answer to say we desperately need a QB because our guys just don't have it.

But, but, transfer qb’s never work!

HH led the offense to more points in that game than Sims has all year.

If I recall, he dropped 1 snap, and immediately fell on it. Sims was handing the opposing teams the ball multiple times a game deep in our territory, directly leading to points scored against us.

Couple balls flew ugly, but it was a windy game. Sims throws easily telegraphed passes in an attempt to thread the needle, and he just doesn't have the talent to make those passes

If you genuinely believe Sims and HH are anywhere close to the same level, you're delusional

Haarberg is more of a winner than Nebraska has had in a while. It won't continue if he doesn't get improve, but hopefully unlike Frost teams the QB's will improve.

He's a C1 QB whom has played 4 games at the collegiate level and had no attention at all from the coaching staff during one of his years as an understudy. I'll give him a chance to grow.

Everyone has agreed he’s got talent, but that doesn’t include the forward pass. Nobody is rooting against him; quite the opposite. The only reason his limitations are being mentioned is in response to the OP. Also, he’s not any of those QB’s you mention above. Would be fantastic if he could get there, but don’t see it happening. Will we be able to get / retain quality receivers if HH is the QB of the future?

“Nobody is rooting against him but I’m writing him off after 4 career starts”

Typical

Come on buddy. HH was full on Jeff Sims on Friday and lucked out that he wasn't picked more. Hell he about threw three picks on three straight throws. He's very lucky and has been that way in a few games. Yes HH was a decent shot in the arm and I think he brings the leadership aspect that Sims lacks, but you are crazy if you think they aren't basically at the same level. They both suck throwing the ball and seeing the field. They both don't make great reads on the option and both are very dangerous with their feet.

If Haarberg was so much better than Sims our offense shouldn't be the level of garbage it is. Because of how bad our QBs are in the pass game teams will continue to just have folks in the box to stop the run.

I'll agree to disagree. I was hopeful after watching Haarberg play at Michigan, but Friday he was bad.

Writing him off? Way too emotional about this.

did I imagine this?

sure looks like writing him off to me and everyone else with even a semi elementary grasp on the English language
