....hoop commit for next year?

Fred needs to let Doc coach THIS group while he goes and gets the NEXT group:)

How many scholarship spots are currently open? One? I feel pretty confident that Fred will bring in the talent we need. The guys sitting out right now will be a major boost.

Shamiel Stevenson, Derrick Walker and Dalano Banton are the guys who jump to mind.

That's 6'6", 6'8", 6'8" and physical guys right there.

We have two scholarships open now that Samari Curtis is transferring. I would expect at least one more player to transfer out after this season, probably Akol Arop and/or Dachon Burke, who do not really fit Hoiberg's system.

We're supposedly considering Teddy Allen, who has been absolutely lighting it up at Western NE CC this year. Still weighing whether his baggage is worth it, but he would be an immediate difference-maker on the court.

I'm guessing Fred will use at least one of the scholarships on a D-I transfer, since that is his bread and butter. Haven't heard about any high school prospects for 2020. They're going all in for Hunter Sallis in 2021, but will be very hard to beat out Kansas and UCLA.

Where is Sallis from?

Fred probably needs a contract extension to make recruits comfortable .....

Hunter likes Fred and Matt a lot and he wants to stay close to home. I think its a 2 horse race between us and KU

Burke seems to be playing as well as anyone on the team right now. Any info why he would want to transfer?

No info, but he was brought in by Miles and is not a good outside shooter, which is what Fred values most in his shooting guards. He would be able to grad transfer and play his final season somewhere else immediately. We will have Banton and Stevenson eligible next season, and possibly a transfer like Teddy Allen, so I think his minutes would go down quite a bit next season if he stays.

Best player on the floor tonight for Nebraska maybe. Cheatam and Thor both played very well. Good effort. We get the dreaded MV (moral victory).,

Nice write up, other than the Burke comment. But that's the way it always goes. When someone makes a comment about a player is when they go off in a game. Seems to happen more often than not.

I will eat crow, Burke shot the ball well last night. He has been a barely 30% 3-point shooter in his career but looks to be improving. Thor's outside shooting has also improved tremendously.

Yet oddly the guy we brought in to be a 3-point specialist, Kavas, can't hit the broad side of a barn this season. He shot 46% from 3 at Seattle but only 28% here. Fred needs to get him going now that Jervay is gone. We can't ask our starters to all play 40 minutes every game in the Big Ten.

There's a big difference between shooting over a P6 Div 1 team and the defense he was shooting over at Seattle. The D gets there quicker and is longer. He's also having to work harder to play defense which sometimes affects a shooter's stroke.
