What are the barriers for finishing the coaching hires?

I'm curious what's standing in the way of additional coaching announcements? Are there targets who are tied up in the NFL? That season doesn't end until the first week of January, so could we potentially be waiting until then to fill out the vacancies?

There should be no hold up for college coaches as you'd think they would depart now even if their team is in the playoff, right?

If I'm a portal QB or WR weighing whether to come to Nebraska, I'd want to know my position coach pronto.

We'll see if this week brings any news.

Football Bill Busch among group of assistants who will not be retained by Matt Rhule

Inside Nebraska has been informed that Bill Busch is among a group of assistants who will not be retained by Matt Rhule. I have also been told that Sean Beckton, Travis Fisher and Barrett Ruud will not be retained on the Huskers' coaching staff. Those four are in addition to Bryan Applewhite, who @Greg Smith reported on Tuesday afternoon will not be retained. Mark Whipple is also gone.

Football Keagan Johnson picks Kansas State

Keagan Johnson, the Bellevue West product and son of former Husker WR Clester Johnson, picked the Hawkeyes over the Huskers coming out of high school as the No. 3-ranked player in the state of Nebraska's 2021 class.

He has now picked another local rival over Nebraska again, committing to Kansas State on Sunday.

Matt Rhule and Co. pulled the right move by officially targeting Johnson with an offer Monday night, but Johnson is heading to the Big 12.

Football Nebraska QB commit William Watson has flipped to Virginia Tech

William Watson is out of the Huskers' 2023 recruiting class. Nebraska may wind up turning to the transfer portal. They had Georgia Tech QB transfer Jeff Sims on campus for a visit this weekend. Sims has two years of eligibility remaining.
