Barstool Bowl

Just curious if anyone else is watching the Barstools Sports Arizona Bowl? I found it on the Barstools app and starting watching right after halftime. It made me think if this is the future of bowl games after the expanded playoffs? Goofy antics and interviews but also not terrible play by play. Obviously they are a betting site so they have a lot of talk about the spread and how things are going gambling wise during the game. I think it is pretty entertaining but curious others thoughts.

Basketball ***FINAL: Nebraska 66, Iowa 50

Nebraska (7-6) welcomes Iowa (8-4) for a Thursday night Big Ten contest. You can catch the game at 6 p.m. on BTN with Jeff Levering and Robbie Hummel on the call.

There are a couple seats on press row for scouts of the Miami Heat and Minnesota Timberwolves. I'm sure they're interested what the Hawkeyes' top player, Kris Murray, looks like in his first game back from a foot injury.

Also of note: looks like the Huskers' backup big, Blaise Keita, is out for the game. He tweaked an ankle in the win over Queens. Fred Hoiberg said Keita was going to test the ankle in a pregame shoot-around and see how it felt. Must not have been good enough. Look for the 7-foot Oleg Kojenets to get some minutes.

Here's a bit of pregame reading:

Basketball Nebraska defends its home court, takes down Iowa in front of sold-out crowd

“Really proud of our guys for the effort they came out of the gate with,” Fred Hoiberg said after the game. “I thought the energy was exactly what we needed."

Nebraska took down Iowa in front of a sold-out crowd Thursday night. Here's the recap, along with videos of the press conferences:

NEW YEARS

I went to the store this afternoon on my bicycle to buy a bottle of whiskey . I came out & put the bottle in the bicycle basket . As i was about to leave I thought to myself that if I fell off the bike on the way home that the bottle might break. I decided to drink the whole bottle before I cycled home . It turned out to be a very good decision because I fell off my bicycle seven times on the way home !! HAPPY NEW YEAR !!

Site Stuff SIAP: Inside Nebraska ranked in Top 20 College Football Message Boards of 2022!

I probably missed this getting posted somewhere. Wasn't sure if this was a good or bad thing but multiple sources have confirmed to Inside Nebraska that this is, indeed, a good thing haha

The Insider's Board was ranked No. 12 in Message Board Genius' Top 20 College Football Message Boards of 2022!

Idk if you guys ever listen to the "Pardon My Take" podcast, but they call their audience "award-winning listeners." Do we need to start calling you guys "award-winning subscribers?" Or do we need to aim higher and wait until the board is ranked No. 1? 😉 😌

When you get time could I get a breakdown of our OL & DL and where we are with recruiting these two positions. From my vantage point it seems the big guys are our biggest need. I see our D-End group is strong but looking for the run stoppers.
Anyone with info please chime in. Thanks

Football Year in Review: Nebraska football’s wild, drama-fueled 2022

Woof. What a wild year it was for Nebraska (and for my first 6-7 months on the beat)

Here’s a rundown of the drama-packed year that was in 2022:

Could someone help a fella out??

Hearing that Pele passed away made me think of one of my all time favorite movies, "Vision Quest". There is a scene that involves Pele in the movie but I can't post it from youtube. It's titled "Vision Quest -six minutes speech by Elmo". My allergies still flare up when I watch it.

Could someone please post that for me? TIA

BTW if you've never seen the movie it is AWESOME!!

ok it's end of year give away time!!!

i have a Husker, skull & crossbones blackshirts type cap. it is a 59FIFTY brand. think i paid ~$35 for it. very nice black w/ white/red skull/bones on front.

tell me your hat size. the first Insider who mentions the magic size, wins the hat. (they'd sent a wrong size and i never took the time to return it). i'll send it to you and even cover the shipping.

i've had this in a box for 2 yrs. so, let 'er rip gentlemen! first one who mentions the correct size wins the cap! 😎

Carr finished with the Raiders?

The Raiders also traded last offseason for All-Pro receiver Davante Adams, a college teammate and close friend of Carr's. Carr is a respected leader in the locker room. Moving on from him is not a decision that would be taken lightly.

Rhule support staff

A number of assistants were named over the last couple days and are listed on the official Nebraska Athletics Football Coaches page. Looks like a lot of experience with some of the support guys. I noticed Ron Brown was retained as was Austin Whipple. His bio says he is the son of Mark Whipple, OC and QB coach. They need to change that obviously.

One guy I noticed was the Assistant to the Head Coach, Jarrett Wishon who has a law enforcement background. Started me thinking I hope he doesn't surf message boards, figures out names of people who bag on Rhule, then confronts them in hotel basements.

Jarrett Wishon is in his first season at Nebraska in 2023, serving as the Huskers’ assistant to the head coach. Wishon spent the 2022 season as the assistant to the head coach on Matt Rhule’s Carolina Panthers staff.

Wishon returned to football after a long career in law enforcement. He was a special agent and criminal investigator with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives from 2014 until joining the Panthers in March of 2022. Prior to his work with the ATF, Wishon was a police detective for the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department for nine years from 2005 to 2014.

Wishon’s first coaching role was as a student assistant working with the offense at Western Carolina in 2005. He played football for Western Carolina, appearing in 30 games from 2002 to 2004. Wishon earned his bachelor’s degree in criminal justice/law enforcement administration from Western Carolina in 2005.
