Quick turnaround for Husker Football

When it's all said and done, an autopsy on the 2022 football season reveals that even if we had had an average coaching staff (i.e. like under Solich or Pelini) starting at the end of the 2021 season and the same players, the 2021 team would have likely finished 9-4 or 10-3. It's hard to believe that even average staff would not have made the team good enough to pull out wins against Northwestern, Georgia Southern, Purdue, Wisconsin, and Minnesota last season.

For 2023, the non-conference games would seem to be all cupcakes (even Colorado after Deion Frost figures out what level he's coaching and that you can't win at this level with all WRs). For the conference season, there isn't one team on the schedule that looks like they'll be better than last season and 2 of the teams are trading in good coaches for new coaches who aren't really any better and may be worse. Michigan seems to be the only team on the schedule that is clearly better than we are, even with our obvious deficiencies on the DL and OL.

I'll wait to see the spring game before I make a prediction on our record, but where it stands right now, it sure as hell seems like it'll be better than 4-8.

An ex-neighbor of

40 some years I had not seen for about a year until last night told me...
"Joe": Is anything wrong with Dragon Raider?
No. Not that I know of, why?
"Joe": I drove past his acerage and it has gone to hell. Can't he take care of it anymore?
He sold the place and moved to xxxxxxxx a couple years ago.
"Joe": Well, that explains that. I was worried about him because he always kept that place looking so nice. That was a beautiful acerage, I wish I had known Dragon was selling.

I don't know... that made me and the Mrs Raider feel good. It was my childhood home, my Grandmother's honeymoon house, my Mother's honeymoom house and Mrs Raider's honeymoon house. I miss it especially the Southern view, the quiet, my rifle/pistol range and the old horses that no one wanted anymore that I cared for in their last years of life. They loved me and I loved them.
I do not miss the winters, cutting wood, 1/4 mile lane to clear of snow on an open platform tractor or mowing an acre+ of lawn every two or three days after the rainy season. I moved many of our perenial plants into town including some my Mother and Grandmother had planted. My wife has been invalid for almost 10 years with MS. I am 68 and her primary caretaker, our life is much easier and relaxed. I have no family ghosts haunting me and my employer of 25+ years (the Mrs & I are linked to his network and are his part-time secretary and paymaster) allowed me to clear out a 100 yard range on his acreage with his mini and Cat skidloader. It is really cool, about 30' wide with a tree canopy of shade and mostly wind protected. Shooting clay from a thrower in there is a challenge because you need to be tracked quick or they will escape into the trees and all you will get is a few leaves and a hoot from the man, woman and child that are up next.

Recruiting Bellevue West 2024 QB Daniel Kaelin commits to Missouri

Class of 2024 Bellevue West QB Daniel Kaelin has committed to Missouri. The Huskers' previous staff, once Mickey Joseph took over as the interim head coach, prioritized Kaelin as their No. 1 QB target. But Matt Rhule and the new regime made it clear that they are going after Dylan Raiola as their No. 1 QB and No. 1 overall priority in the class. So, they have not really been pursuing Kaelin over the past two months and now his decision has been made.

OT: Husker memorabilia

I am looking for a new home for a couple boxes of OWH and LJS newspapers from the 94 to 97 seasons with tons of coverage of the national championship teams and games.

I know I can always put them on ebay but thought I would check around for ideas on what to do with them or if there is any group/org in Neb that might want them if I donate them?

Any input appreciated.

Thanks.

Basketball WBB WNIT FINAL: Nebraska 74, Missouri State 65

Back at Pinnacle Bank Arena as Nebraska (16-14, 8-10 B1G) takes on Missouri State (20-11, 14.6 MVC) in the first round of the WNIT. The Huskers fell just short of an NCAA Tournament berth, becoming an automatic qualifer for the WNIT in the process as they were the top Big Ten team not selected to the NCAA Tournament. It's the fourth all-time meeting between the two schools as the Huskers hold a 2-1 series advantage. It's the first time since 1993 that these two squads have faced one another.

Could be a fun battle on the boards as the Bears had 228 more offensive boards than their opponents this season. Here's a preview of tonight's game:

Baseball Live Thread BSB FINAL: Omaha 10, Nebraska 6

Back at Haymarket Park for the second midweek series of the season as Nebraska (9-4-1) hosts in-state rival Omaha (5-8) for the first of three meetings this year between both squads - including the first of two games here at Hawks Field. The Huskers come into Tuesday's game having won nine of their last 10 games including four straight.

The Mavericks are out to a slow start to begin their 2023 season limping to a 5-8 record but have won the last two games with a pair of victories against Stonehill over the weekend. Rumor is Mike Boeve is out of the Mavericks' lineup tonight. The third basemen is the best player on the Omaha roster and is projected to become an early round MLB draft pick this summer. He's hitting .475 with 19 hits, six doubles and nine RBI through the first dozen games.

It should be an interesting pitching matchup as long relief man RHP Michael Garza (1-1, 1.64 ERA) vs. RHP Charlie Bell (1-1, 6.00 ERA). Garza has tossed 9.1 consecutive shutout innings including 3.1 scoreless innings against No. 4 Ole Miss a couple weeks ago. Bell is making his fourth start of the season. Here's the full preview:

We'll see if this Omaha pitching staff can handle this Husker offense who is first in the Big Ten in batting average, doubles, doubles per game and slugging percentage.

OT: Retiring outside the US…

So… Considering retiring outside the US. Anyone else done this, or considering this?

Personally, we are considering Italy. Love the country. Stable European Union government. Low retirement taxes. Warm “Santa Barbara type” climate…yet the most important part…not in California.

Currently looking at the property linked below. Surrounded by 7 acres of olive orchards. In the beautiful “White City” of Ostuni, Apulia located on the shores of the Mediterranean. What I feel is a bargain for $750,000 US.

Thinking purchase it now, and Airbnb it till ready for retirement.
