4-0

Last week was pretty good at 3-1 all on the road against decent teams. This week MUST be 4-0. All four games are at homes against non-decent teams.

- UNO is UNO. The Mavericks are a solid Summit League team but Nebraska's recent record against them is, frankly, embarrassing. It needs to stop.
- Northwestern is awful. The Wildcats are last in the Big 10 in fielding, hitting and pitching (by a wide margin--team ERA: 8.58!!!). It's truly miraculous they took two from Illinois this weekend. The Illini should hang their heads in shame for a full year.

Baseball Emmett Olson and Max Anderson sweep B1G weekly awards

Emmett Olson was named the Big Ten Pitcher of the Week while Max Anderson was named Big Ten Player of the Week the conference announced Monday afternoon.

Olson worked a career-high 7.2 innings, allowing just one earned run on a pair of hits in the 3-1 series-opening win at Michigan. The Des Plaines, Ill., native carried a no-hitter into the bottom of the seventh inning and struck out eight Wolverines, recording his third start with at least eight strikeouts this season.

Anderson hit .389 at the plate with a .944 slugging percentage and .400 on-base percentage. The junior totaled three home runs, a double, seven RBI and four runs scored, while compiling three multi-hit games and a pair of three-RBI performances.

Nebraska begins a five-game homestand with a midweek matchup against Omaha on Tuesday, April 11 at Hawks Field at Haymarket Park. Tomorrow night’s game will be broadcast live on Nebraska Public Media, with first pitch scheduled for 6:02 p.m.

OT: Disney Star Wars Announcements

Any fellow Star Wars fans here... What are your thoughts on the latest Disney SW Celebration TV show and movie announcements? Any excitement for the Ahsoka trailer? A lot of SW fans I know are done with new Disney SW content at this point. Personally, I think Disney should have made the Thrawn Trilogy instead of their own ST (Yes, I know they would have to recast the OT characters). The Heir to the Empire characters are far more interesting than any two dimensional characters Disney has churned out. I think it's telling that Disney has no faith in their own characters so they have to drag out characters from the EU (that they originally discarded).

Basketball Nebrasketball's Denim Dawson reportedly enters the transfer portal

It's been reported that Nebraska's Denim Dawson has entered the transfer portal. I'm trying to get that confirmed with a source.

That would make the second Husker in as many days enter the portal as Dawson joins Oleg Kojenets. Dawson played in 28 games this season and started eight of them as a redshirt freshman. He averaged 1.7 points and 1.8 rebounds.

With Oleg and Denim entering the portal, Nebraska has four open scholarships available.

Really need your help

We've had a tough week. Lost my 18 yr old nephew to suicide. He should have been the goalie on the Columbus HS soccer team this year as a senior. His brother is a junior.

2 days after he passed we had a game - my nephew played out of his mind. He is up for the NE player of the week (all sports) this week. We've been voting like crazy but there is a female soccer player from David City that plays on the Scotus HS team that just won't go away.

I never do this but for my nephew, brother and his wife if you are so inclined to go vote - NO LIMIT TO THE TIMES YOU CAN VOTE AND IT DOESN'T END UNTIL SUNDAY AT 11:59 PM. Here's the write up and the link to the site. Thank you!

Nicholas Bennett, Columbus Boys Soccer

Bennett was playing with a heavy heart on Thursday when he led the Discoverers to a 2-1 victory over rival Fremont. Nick’s older brother David, also a member of the Columbus soccer team, passed away unexpectedly just two days earlier. Playing for the memory of his brother, Nicholas tied the match with 20 seconds left and forced overtime. He then earned an assist by creating the pass that set up the game-winner in a victory that neither he nor anyone involved will ever forget.

Baseball Huskers use long ball, bullpen to take series win over Michigan

Big series win for the Huskers on this Easter Sunday. Hit the link.

Baseball Live Thread BSB FINAL: Nebraska 11, Michigan 3

Happy Easter everyone! It's a big Sunday in Ann Arbor this morning as Nebraska (17-10-1, 3-2) takes on Michigan (17-13, 6-2) to wrap up this three-game weekend series. The Huskers fell to the Wolverines yesterday as Jace Kaminska was hammered in his second straight start as the Michigan offense scored six runs off the right hander as Kaminska only recorded five outs on the afternoon. The bullpen did its job allowing only three runs, but they were put in a tough position having little room for error. The offense couldn't keep up, stranding 13 runners, striking out 11 times and leaving the bases loaded twice as they struggled to plate runs. Here's that recap from yesterday:

Nebraska took game one on Friday against Michigan as starter Emmett Olson shined for 7.2 IP as he allowed only one run on two hits with eight strikeouts. Jonathan Kim hit a solo homer in the eighth inning on Olson, but a Brice Matthews three-run home run in the top of the 10th pushed the Huskers past the Wolverines. Here's that recap from Friday:

It'll be Will Walsh (1-1, 2.87 ERA) on the bump for Nebraska as he'll face Wolverine starter Jacob Denner who makes his seventh start of the season and 11th appearance. He owns a 4.81 ERA in 33.2 IP with a strikeout-to-walk ratio of 32-9. Here's the full series preview.

The lineman was part of Nebraska big Junior Day weekend but I don’t like the Huskers’ chances here. Looking like a Michigan vs Mizzou battle and I like the Wolverines.
