Sorry, lost me at #3 1984 BYU Cougars. They beat one whole ranked team, and faced a 6-5 Michigan team in the Holiday Bowl to "earn" the national championship. I can think of a dozen Husker teams that were better than that.

Besides having BYU #3 best which is a joke in it self, Penn St was 12-0 in 1986 not 1980..

I’m one that still feels 1971 Nebraska team was Nebraska best team by the fact they beat #2,#3 and #4 top ranked teams at seasons end..
