Volleyball Game Thread FINAL: No. 4 Nebraska 3, Kansas State 0 (25-21, 25-15, 25-19)

It's a battle of the unbeaten and old Big 12 rivals on this Labor Day weekend as No. 4 Nebraska (4-0) takes on Kansas State (4-0) following one of the biggest days in program history. It's hard not to label this a trap game considering the Huskers have their first road game after playing in front of 92,000 people inside Memorial Stadium. Head coach John Cook typically has his players ready to play, but it's usually hit or miss on Sundays — especially on the road.

If NU struggles, the Wildcats have the talent to take a set or two and challenge Nebraska. But that still remains unseen. Don't expect too many lineup changes for Nebraska today. The Wildcats are coming off a 3-0 sweep of Omaha on Friday 25-21, 25-23, 25-23 so the Mavericks certainly played better. K-State only hit .179 that night as Aliyah Carter led the attack with a match-high 14 kills. Here's a better breakdown of the Wildcats that I released yesterday:

ICYMI, here's our coverage from Volleyball Day in Nebraska earlier this week. That link sends you to all of our coverage.

Why does Ne have a football program

We suck, have sucked, and I don’t see an avenue where we don’t suck. I watched a full slate of games today, finishing with Wyoming. Teams spending a 10th the money to not suck.

Why does a local press not ask why. 4-5 star tight end isn’t in the offensive game plan. #1 wide receiver has no touches.
Colorado didn’t do that.

Football Omar Brown, DeShon Singleton shine in starting debuts

There was a lot to like about Nebraska’s defense in the season-opener.

But I thought two first-time starters in the defensive backfield, safeties Omar Brown and DeShon Singleton, were everywhere.

Let’s take a look at their night:

Players of the game on offense, defense and special teams — plus the Huskers’ best highlight play from Thursday night:

Las Vegas still figuring things out

Since it's early in the year, Las Vegas is showing they have several teams overrated and just as many underated as well as many of undetermined ability.

So far, there have been 24 teams that have covered anywhere between 0.5 and < 7 points. Those teams they have a good handle on. So, basically they have 48 teams in this category that seem to perform as expected. (It's early).

There are 26 teams who have failed to cover with spreads ranging from + 7 points. Those teams are slightly overrated. Among that group there would be a total of 52 teams that are questionable at the moment.

There are 32 teams that have failed to cover between 10 and 37 points. At this time, they are slightly overrated.

There are 28 teams that have covered between 10 and 37 points. * These are hard to get a gauge on because I'm looking at OU, Mississippi, UCF, A & M, Bama, Syracuse, Miami(Fla), and they are playing very weak opponents. So, hard to gauge how good they are.

Other teams like Ohio St, Mich, Wiscy, Texas, S. Carolina, Baylor, TCU, Okie St failed to cover, some missed by a lot. OSU, Michigan spent a little too much time reading their press clippings this summer because they should have rolled, and they missed their spread bigtime.

I'll add more data to this spread as the week goes along, and if it's something you can glean from, that's good, if it's not your thing, that's cool too.

Dave Aranda

Curious why there’s not more mention of Dave Aranda. Took Baylor from 2-7 to 12-2.
DC and Assistant HC when LSU won National Championship, excellent defense record as DC at Wisconsin, strung 6 years in a row at 3 different schools with top 15 defense plus last year top 10.

I think he’s credited with recruiting 2 five stars, and 23 four stars (per 247).

His resume reads pretty close to what I would want…. and his current salary is only $4 million. We could probably double that salary if we wanted to start acting serious about being back with the big boys.

I’m no expert on all the candidates, but right now, he’s my guy.

Keisei leads Japan to the Olympics (Highlights)

Hits 6 three pointers and named player of the game. Japan finishes with best record of any team from Asia at FIBA World Cup and therefore qualifies for 2024 Olympics in Paris - Pretty awesome to say the least. We just may have the most exciting player in the B1G this year - can’t wait to watch him again. GBR!!!!

Back from game

"If you can't take care of the ball, you can't play for us." If Sims stats at Colorado we know this statement is BS and/or Rhule plays favorites.

Where was Rahmir? Grant should be on a milk carton, not him.

Tommi at receiver?

John Bullock - 6 tackles and two of them were nasty hard-assed tackles. DeShon 7 tackles

Whoever called the two pass plays when we needed to burn clock in the 4th and go make a FG or at least punt should never hold a playsheet again.

Special teams much better.

Minnesota fans were nice - no problems with them. Parking around the stadium is a nightmare, not a lot of places and shuttles from further lots didn't run for a Thursday game. The stadium has mostly good seats. Lots of great food choices. The sound system absolutely sucked. They even needed closed-captioning at the bottom of the screen so the announcer could be understood.

IMO the coaches lost the game, not the players. No screens or draws to take the heat off SIms. No usage of the TEs. Clock management sucked. Went awat from what was working. Didn't sit Sims for awhile after the 2nd int.

What section is the visitor section in Folsom Field? Going to game now and will buy a single ticket

Going to fly in Friday night and tailgate Saturday morning with my friend who lives in Boulder. Want to be there for either Matt Rhule's first win if that happens.

Going to just buy a single ticket and was wondering the following
--what section is the visitor section in Colorado's Stadium
--Didn't there used to be an Ticket exchange on this site where you could see if people were selling tickets--Just need one.

thanks in advance for any help
