Football Louisiana Tech at Nebraska Preview & Prediction (CollegeFootballNews.com)

Louisiana Tech (2-2) at Nebraska (1-2)
Saturday, September 23 - 3:30 PM (ET) - Lincoln, Nebraska

Why Louisiana Tech Will Win
Can the Bulldogs keep the offense moving?

They might have lost to North Texas last week, but the attack was balanced, the running game has been great for the last few years, and there's more than enough pop to push a still questionable Nebraska defense.

The takeaways have to come against a Nebraska offense still trying to figure out its quarterback situation. The Huskers gave it away four times in the opener against Minnesota and four more times in the loss to Colorado. Louisiana Tech just so happened to turn it over multiple times in its two wins, but it can't do that here. It has to be at least +2, but........

Why Nebraska Will Win
....the Louisiana Tech defense won't be able to slow down the Nebraska ground game.

Yes, the Huskers might be just 1-2, but it ran well in the two losses and was great on the ground last week against Northern Illinois. Louisiana Tech has a decent pass rush, but it can get shoved around a bit -- it allowed over five yards per carry in the three games against FBS teams.

The Huskers will pound away, the defense won't have a problem getting into the backfield against a leaky Bulldog O line, Louisiana Tech has a banged up QB in Hank Bachmeier, and .........

Who Will Win
.....can Nebraska fans really get a chance to enjoy back-to-back wins? For the first time since early 2021 and for only the second time since 2018, the Huskers will come up with back-to-back double-digit wins.

The Nebraska lines will dominate, the Louisiana Tech offense will stall after a good first quarter -- the Huskers will stall Bachmeier or Jack Turner and the passing attack -- and there will finally be a bit of balance.

For the first time all year, Nebraska will hit 200 passing yards.

Prediction
Nebraska 37, Louisiana Tech 13

Spread
Nebraska is favored at home by 20.5 points. The O/U is set at 47 points.

What I'm hoping to see today

Defense doesn't come out flat. Shut the running game down from the get go and make them one dimensional..Smoke could cause problems. He looks electric so don't let him get going. Rattle the back up QB early and often. 5+ sacks. Historically we've allowed backups to look like Heisman hopefuls. No third and long conversions! ..Keep them to under 75 yds rushing and less than 250 total yards

Offense takes time off the clock with sustained drives and wears out the LT defense. Dominate the second half. Keep the QB clean and let the RBs get in a rhythm. Be creative in the run game. Use the TEs in the passing game and get a couple long connections to WRs to build some confidence if nothing else. +65% completions. No stupid penalties in the red zone!...+250 yds rushing and + 450 total yards

Special Teams play clean. Get some positive returns on kick off (past the 25!). Flip the field as much as possible. If attempted, make ALL field goals inside 50yds. Average 45yds per punt.

Turnovers are non existent. We get 2+ from them.

Score If all above happens 41-10..what I think it will be 34-16
