Football Haarberg invokes Scott Frost, Tommie Frazier, Tom Osborne to outline 2023 offense

Heinrich Haarberg, the native son of Kearney Catholic who grew up wanting to become Nebraska's starting quarterback, invoked a lot of history lessons in his postgame interview Saturday night. All of it helped outline this 2023 offense, its reliance on the QB run game and the evolving use of the option.

Lots to parse through from Haarberg and Rhule on Saturday. So I did:

Win Now vs. Build a Program

Trev wanted build a program. Fans needed win now. This is what we got.

Yes, win now is possible. Deion is doing it, Mel Tucker did it. Many other coaches have gotten poorer teams bowl eligible in year 1.

I am a fan, and I love DONU, but if it takes three years, I think I'd prefer to leave and come back. I don't mean support a different team, just do other things on Saturdays and check the scores later. I did that today. While disappointed, I'm also feeling no emotion about it, which is better than being amped up about something I have no control over.

Recruiting Three key takeaways from Huskers' post game media session after La Tech win

We got a lot of extra players on the side media session last night. Here are three more takeaways from what those guys said.

Football Turning Point: Grant's blitz pickup leads to Fidone's TD catch

This week's Turning Point is Thomas Fidone's 29-yard touchdown catch, and the blitz pickup from Anthony Grant that helped make it possible.

Football "Final Five" emphasis paying off early for Nebraska

In back-to-back wins Nebraska has become a fourth-quarter team. Most of that stems from the offseason where the Huskers used a "Final Five" drill to embrace that last quarter mentality. Hit the link.

I'm going to say it now

You fools crying about Rhule and how Sanders is so much better. You hint about race and age . You must be young people that don't know enough about the game. Sanders doesn't play , either does Rhule. It what world do you expect to win games when you have more turnovers and penalties ? Sims vs Sanders at QB , come on man. This is a rebuild, if you didn't know it , now you do. Trying to compare coaches with totally different talent levels is not smart either. Colorado was bad last year , probably not this year. Their roster has flipped , ours didn't. Could Sanders win with our roster ? Phuck no. Our guys are average at best. I'm guessing most of you were too young to Remember most of our Oklahoma duels. They won with better players, ask Barry. It's Jimmy and Joes , not X's and O's. If we had Sanders at QB we're 2-0 and everyone is singing. It's frustrating but it's we need talent.
