Coach carousel

Tomorrow will probably be a crazy day for some coaches. No doubt there will be some more movement. I would think Tom Allen would be a casualty even with the $20 million buyout. Today Oregon State became open. Rumor is that Syracuse is targeting Bob Chesney from Holy Cross. Syracuse is a challenging Job due to a lack of support and location.

Winning- the only summary fix

The analysis on this board is pretty insightful in some cases. Stats that question the QB's, kicker decisions, clock management, etc. There was even a guy who complained about Rhule's "storming the beach at Normandy" reference.
If we win games, none of it matters. It will still be analyzed, but it won't matter. In the end, winning, not stadium or locker room upgrades, is the only thing that matters to players and fans.
An example of mindset: My granddad was in the third wave at Normandy. He saw some awful things that he never spoke of. If he were here today, and Nebraska was headed to a bowl game, he would not have been upset at the coachspeak analogy.

Winning is it, and that's all.

Postseason Scenarios

With the regular season now over, the real fun (for some other teams, I guess) begins. Lots of wild scenarios in play as we head into Championship Week and the playoffs.

To me, it looks likely that we are headed for another big controversy surrounding which team will snag the 4th playoff spot. It seems plausible that either Georgia and/or Florida St could lose, and if either does, several teams could make a case for the spot that opens up.

In my favorite timeline, Florida State and Texas both lose, leaving Michigan, the winner of Oregon/Washington, Georgia as locks, and the committee selects Ohio State to the 4th spot and they beat Harbaugh in the rematch for the title. I'm no Ohio State fan, I just hate Michigan and that is the most painful scenario I can imagine for them.

Tony White Salary

Tony White has been stellar this year. I think he is pivotal in Nebraska's continued success over the next 3 years. Just about every Husker fan I have spoke with agrees that we will need to bump up his pay in order to keep him in Lincoln, so I did a bit of research to see the highest paid DCs in college football. Found it interesting that several schools pay their head coaches much less (example: L Tech pays their head coach $950,000. Only sharing this info for a discussion on where he should be at and in comparison to other B1G DCs.
IMO: He we need to consider him in that 1.4 - 1.5 range.

Recruiting Needs

We all have our opinions. And Coach Rhule has his. And generally speaking, his is to build with High School players and not transfers.

But I am expecting a few more Portal/Transfers this coming class than the last class.

QB: Not saying anything about the existing QB’s, but I am expecting 2 of the existing QB room to transfer out. Leaving One. We have one incoming and I’m expecting Coach to add 1-2 more.

Trev Alberts vote of confidence for HC

I find it very interesting that Trev has not come out in major support of his first year HC. Wouldn’t you think Trev would be out supporting him and asking fans to be patient. With that being said it raises some very interesting questions.
1) Is there really something to the A&M rumors or another school
2) Truth to Ted Carter pressuring Trev to hire Rhule
3) Matt never was Trev’s guy and going to let him sink or swim
Something just doesn’t feel right with this whole situation. I think it is going to be a very interesting winter. Buckle up……
