Bad Luck Self Imposed

Before the beginning season, Matt Rhule just up and declares Tristan Alvano as our place kicker.
We can argue luck versus competence but this one decision has nothing to do with those things.

We already had a pretty good place kicker, why was he cast aside?

As it is, Alvano finished near the bottom in accuracy, 104th. He has a strong leg, but fails in accuracy. Some of them are off by quite a bit.

Seems like a lot of our problems this year were self imposed.

Basketball 7-0 looks good, but Huskers know defense needs to find its edge again

A win is a win, but both Fred Hoiberg and Rienk Mast know there needs to be improvement if the Huskers want to achieve their goals this season.

Letting Cal State Fullerton score 72 points, grab 15 offensive rebounds and score 14 second-chance points might fly against the opponents Nebraska has already played — they have a combined record of 15-23 — but it won't when Big Ten play starts.

"I just feel like we've lost our edge a little bit on that side of the floor."

Football Rhule: Purdy to start, Ty's return and Benhart "playing his best football"

Hey, everyone. Here's a quick update on what Matt Rhule talked about in his final presser before the game with No. 17 Iowa. (Story linked below with video of Rhule's presser)

>> Rhule said Nick Henrich re-tore his ACL in the overtime against Wisconsin.

>> Chubba Purdy will get the start against Iowa.

>> Heinrich Haarberg will only be an emergency option against Iowa.

TA&M Coaching Search

Talk about dreaming big, but they do have unlimited resources …

** COACHING CAROUSEL ** Report out of College Station, Texas this morning: Texas A&M is preparing to offer Georgia Bulldogs Head Coach Kirby Smart the richest deal in coaching history. A Chill Sports associate spoke with one Aggie booster who was lead to believe last week's fundraising and booster donation was to allow the Texas A&M administration the ability to offer Coach Smart a "blank check". If necessary, they expect the offer to be in the $15-20 million yearly range. Money is no issue for the Aggies, as they now spend $30 million+ annually on recruiting, paid $77 million to fire Jimbo Fischer, and was gifted $160 million last week by their alumni. Expect the Aggies offer to resemble a 5 year/$100 million deal and to be fully guaranteed. Could the Aggies "carte blanche" approach lure the head bulldog away from Georgia?! #chillsports #aggies #CollegeStation #GoDawgs #tamu #12thman #secfootball #collegefootball

A Different Perspective

I have a group of friends who are all huge college football fans but many of us root for different teams. One guy loves Arkansas, couple of OU guys, Texas, Miami, Notre Dame. I'm the lone Nebraska guy and it's been that way since the early 80's. Anyway, it's interesting to get feedback from folks who have no rooting interest in your team because they can provide perspective without emotion. These friends of mine consistently watch Nebraska games (mainly because we occupy the 11am slot most weeks) when their own teams are not playing.
I have friends swear to me that the shit we are watching is scripted. Multiple people who watch Nebraska football actually think it's not even real, it's just a bad soap opera. Let that sink in ..... the product on the field is so illogical, improbable, not even believable. An average college football fan could watch 10 games in a particular weekend, most of which are not memorable in any way, yet they can recite with amazing accuracy how Nebraska imploded to lose another one score game.
I wonder if Matt Rhule even realizes that. Everyone I know absolutely loved the hire of Rhule to Nebraska because they saw what he did at Baylor first-hand, yet he puts on a Nebraska hat and suddenly becomes a buffoon. Bewildering clock management, lead the nation in turnovers, strange rotation of players on offense, QB's that literally look like they have money on the opposing team, play calls so befuddling you can't understand what you just witnessed.

I've had friends call me after games and say, "I don't know how you watch this shit every week." And then laugh uncomfortably.

I would love to sit down with Rhule and just explain to him that the product he produced in year one was so ridiculous that the common observer can't even fathom what they're watching. Like how do you shit the bed in EVERY critical moment of every close game? Even the law of averages would work in your favor if you let it, but these jokers are so high strung that they can't perform. Coaches, players, everything. They literally need to adapt the George Costanza mentality of doing the exact opposite of what is instinctual and that will probably work.

Anyway, can't wait for 2024! Yippee!

Nebraska should consider creating a flexback position

Nebraska needs a player like Heinrich Harberg who can play about 5 to 15 snaps at quarterback and be used like a wildcat back in certain situations. Let Heinrich play tight end about 20 snaps a game.

I always thought Luke McCaffrey could have been used like that. Luke could have been a very good wide receiver while still occasionally playing quarterback for a few plays a game.

Our biggest risk with Coach White…

Is him getting fed up with Satterfield and having to bale his ass out all year from dumb ass play calling. My guess is he will only put up with stupid -hit so long. Let’s hope STterfield figured it out or Rhule takes action…either way…Satterfield was stupid last week an he’s still stupid!

You want proof you say…stupid _ucker called 2 straight pass plays from his own 10 with 50 seconds left in the half…lucky it didn’t cost us points.
