Recruiting Benning shines and Anthony Rezac emerges in Bellevue West blowout

Things are starting to get interesting in the state. Caleb Benning has another monster night and I make the case for Anthony Rezac to get a Huskers offer. Hit the link…

Football A beautiful mess of a win for resilient Huskers before bye week gives hope

It was ugly but give me an ugly win of a close pretty loss any day. My story on a program that's starting to look like a Big Ten team.

Go Big Red

I can tell you it feels pretty good this morning being able to watch football knowing we already won for the week. It was uglier than coach BB in that orange tent but I will take it. A road win , blocked kick, goaline stand, shutting down a team to one td....a team that had beat us the last three years. They needed that win as bad as we did. I'm taking this as a step. Next step in two weeks. I'm going out today wearing some Blackshirt duds.

Forest through the trees

I’m extraordinarily frustrated with the continued mistakes we make, but the overall improvement is clear.

How are many on this board so blinded that they can’t see improvement. This is insane. The board reads like we lost by 21.

Take a step back and realize we were a 3 point dog and thoroughly dominated Illinois.

Are we good? No. Are we improving? Yes. Did we beat a bad team? Yes. They are terrible. But beating bad teams (on the road at that) is something we haven’t been able to consistently do for years.

Rip away at this post. I don’t care. but I do care, and see, that we continue to improve.

People discounting the “bad” teams we have beat…

For the last 5-6 years we are one of the worst teams in the country. When other teams get their schedule “Nebraska” is circled as the W by the team and fans. We have the longest non-bowl streak currently in all of D1 football.

If we are going to climb up the hill - we have to beat teams that are on our level - MN, NW, IL. I get that is tough to fathom but it is who we are. Excited to see us beat IL because they have stuck it to us the last 3. Will be excited to get payback on NW in a couple of weeks.

I’m happy with any W at this point and someone posted a few years ago we were 0-6 losing to non-power5 teams in Golden Tee’s first year … all I heard was complaining about previous staff and throwing players under the bus for the first two years.

Love Rhule for taking immediate responsibility for the team and the players. He’s not bitching because we lost our top 2 backs, he’s not complaining when we lose our top couple of receivers. He’s building something and it starts with beating teams at our level so we can start beating the mid-tier teams and then competing with the big dogs.

Rhule has a lot of work to do.

And it doesn’t involve play calling, training, talent, or anything else we normally talk about on this forum.

We may still win tonight, but this team over the past many years has been programmed to scuttle success and blow things at the end. It’s 10 minutes left in the 4th, and it should be 40-0. Instead, we just have a knack of keeping the other team in the game.

God I hope we don’t blow this one! I just can’t freaking believe we keep shooting ourself in the foot with stupid penalties!

Thank god.

First off, I am very happy we won. I feel like I am constantly complaining, regardless of the outcome.

This game was weird, because it scared the hell out of me. I can't remember a time in the last 10 years we got almost every replay go our way. That many short fields etc to net only 10 points.

I thought if this was any other team we would have lost. I truly believe this was if not the worst team we played, then I'm not sure who. Thought I saw a stat we were tied for 1st in P5 for fumbles or turnovers? Then we saw 2 more after that is that correct? I am in a fog.
