As I write this, the Republicans have now lost the house for the next two years. After this was announced, thousands of Republicans went out and screamed at the sky, some dressed in vaginas, and thousands of others marched on different capitals and courthouses. No I'm sorry, they just went to work like they did before the elections. My bad.

Agree, both parties have their share of terrible people. Until that changes, I'll go with the ones who take less of my money.
Democrats overwhelmingly elected guys like Menendez and Ellison last night. So they can't really lecture about deplorable behavior.

My personal belief is that if Satan was the republican candidate and Hitler the democratic, a sizable portion of both parties voting base would be rallying for their guy.

Flipping of the House will make things interesting. Senate staying about the same was to be expected given which seats were up. Now we shall see what we shall see from Mr. Mueller with the midterms being done. That was his deal to stay quiet for those, and he did. Now he's going to do his job and I expect he'll do it quickly. House will be trying to impeach, Senate Republicans will be sniffing the wind VERY carefully to see which way it's blowing.
They won't want to impeach but they'll sell him down the river if they think it gets them re-elected. The economy is your real question there if people are losing their jobs they'll turn the cart over real quick. It will be recession time soon, but how soon? If 45 becomes a third rail the GOP Senators will run from him as fast as they can and pretend they stood firmly against him the whole time.
Can't decide if I'd take Pence at this point or not. He'd be more effective at getting through policies I'm against, but also more of a stateseman, and he'd be limited with a blue House and a slender margin in the Senate. It might be nice to turn off the sideshow and have a boring President for a while.

The parties switched entirely; when the Democrats actually passed the Civil Rights Act of 1964, the Republicans under Nixon exploited the racism expressed by uneducated whites in the South (and anywhere really) to lure them to the Republican party. Also, he wasn't putting in 12-14 hour days. That much has been reported by the World Herald.
You really should read more. It's no wonder so many of these replies are Republican voters who spout off a-historical nonsense. It's very hard to appeal to reason when the opposition has invested a lot of time and money in making sure the electorate is terribly misinformed.
Well, that's a cute take on it, but there's zero evidence of that being the case. And he certainly hasn't claimed that to be the situation. And.. he's the freaking state auditor. You know... the elected official with the duty of protecting the public from misuse of tax dollars. Again, don't care about R's or D's, he's probably a nice guy but he DESERVES to be fired.
About ten years ago, they dressed up as colonial Americans carrying signs such as "Impeach the Kenyan Muslim Marxist" and "We Came Unarmed This Time" to protest the alleged growth of the federal deficit. They screamed at the sky and hung tea bags from their tri-corner hats. Those folks are probably now working really hard at protesting the real explosion of the deficit over the past year.

If you can show that he did a poor job, or didn't do his job efficiently, I would agree with you.

You haven't pointed out anything that I have said as misinformation, and checking on Charlie Janssen was remarkably easy for them. They just timed how long his truck was at the sports bar versus at the office over the course of a week.

We do nothing but complain about the government and the decisions they make on spending our tax dollars, etc. It baffles me that we want to put our healthcare in their hands as well.
I've known a number of successful people who have taken long lunches and/or who have consumed alcohol over their lunch breaks.
Certainly, Janssen doing so raises some red flags, but I need to know that he was derelict in his duties as State Auditor or that his office wasn't running as effectively and efficiently as should have been.
It's ridiculous people think they won't start rationing care payments.
Someone is shot every minute in America. Just imagine the costs for initial and long term care.
I know that the ACA increased my costs and afforded me less options and access for health care.
But now that prop 427 was passed, I'm sure that all will be saved (sarcasm).
That and we have a bunch of mental patients who show up to the ER every time they get a scratch because they think they’re dying.
Yep, the left wants to put the government in charge of everything - and then worries that Trump will be a fascist dictator.
Trump is a good example of why the government should have less power, not more.

Plus (while professing ownership of God and white surfer Jesus) they ridicule the poor and those seeking refuge. Can’t remember where it says in the Bible that you are only supposed to help the poor who have legally entered the country or are not lazy. I’ll have to find it where Jesus turned away the poor based on circumstance. Democrats are no better, but just a less amusing sort of hypocritical... enjoy..

Worst case? We write off the chinese portion of the debt and and move forward leaving them with the bag.
Yes, for those who understand real economics, that would effectively print roughly ten trillion dollars by monetizing that portion of the debt. And there are consequences to that.
But that's where we are headed regardless most likely .... just a matter of when. It's been obvious for decades now. Having some control of when and where and how is better than blind stupidity.
