Running for his life

Here's the best face I can put on what I've heard about this so far (not claiming it is accurate). MW really likes this girl when they are like freshmen in High School, but she dumps him in some cold way (as high school kids often do), and he is heartbroken. Then she does a threesome with those guys, and they send their video all over the place, including to MW. He obsesses over it and keeps it on his phone. Later, when he gets the big scholie, she decides to try and flirt with him again. She hasn't told anyone the incident was sexual assault so far. But he's having none of it, gets mad, and sends her the video with the insult to tell her to get lost.

If he didn't really know the sex video was of an assault, and just wanted to tell her this is why he had no interest in her any more, his actions don't seem as bad to me as they might otherwise. Anyway, I don't know if that story is anywhere close to the truth. But it seems possible.

I spend so much money on therapy for my wife and daughter and it is worth every penny! My wife is doing better every month, my daughter not so much. In the past she has hurt herself because of the pain and shame that is associated with the assault. I wont get into it but she could use everyone's prayers. She is no longer the same loving sweet young girl. As a father this perp has taken away my ability to even hug my daughter. My hope is one day I will be able to wrap my arms around my daughter without her running away in tears.
did they get prosecuted?

Well I highly doubt that Bruning has a California license so that would be required to represent him in that state. Bruning did release a statement on Washington's behalf.
No, the two statements were released by Washington's current attorney, who is from Lincoln:

Lincoln attorney John C. Ball released a statement Monday regarding the charges filed against Nebraska running back Maurice Washington III:

"Mr. Washington will continue to be fully cooperative with the authorities in this situation," Ball said in the statement. "We are in contact with those authorities, and are in the process of making arrangements to move forward and resolve this matter."

Ball referenced the same video mentioned in the NBC report, citing the event took place several years ago.

"This is a situation involving an inappropriate cell phone video. The allegations are that Mr. Washington sent that video to his high school girlfriend," Ball said. "Mr. Washington did not make the video, nor does he appear in the video."

"Mr. Washington has confidence in our justice system, and knows that he can rely on the fundamental constitutional rights of due process and the presumption of innocence," Ball said.

In a second statement issued Monday night, Ball refuted the allegations against Washington, saying the 19-year-old had nothing to do with the incident.

"The narrative put forth today is that Mr. Washington used a video as a weapon to re-victimize his former high school girlfriend," Ball said. "That is not true. Without a doubt, Mr. Washington had absolutely nothing to do with that sexual assault."

"The communications between these two young people are yet to be fully determined, and there are additional facts and circumstances that give context and perspective to this situation," he said.

There are two separate issues according to the law, not one. First off your assumption says nothing to the fact that this encounter she had was willing or forced which none of us know right now, so nobody should assume either way. BUT that has nothing to do with Washington's case.

The only thing that matters in Washington's case is this, he sent a video of an underage girl (of which that video is classified as child pornography) to a person. Period. In legal complexities that is this case by itself. What the boys did consensual or forced is of no issues in Washington's case. They have to be separated.

Fact is Washington nor his attorney have ever said he did not send it. In fact his attorney has admitted he did. That right there is.... alarming and the states case.

As much as I hate it all this other stuff is irrelevant to Washington's case.

My point is what kind of person keeps that video and sends it to another person, much less the person who it happened to. That to me tells me everything I need to know about Mo Washington. (I am not saying he is guilty in the court of law but IMO him admitting he sent that video is enough for my opinion of him to be one where, I hope he is not part of the Husker program. I also hope he gets help, cause he needs it)

To answer your question: An immature kid who hasn't had a stable home life surrounded by love. He latches on to a girl and something happens to break them up. Again, a kid without much or any love in his life is hurt, betrayed maybe and not equipped to deal with his emotions. This whole deal is about his relationship with his high school sweetheart and he was just not emotionally mature enough obviously to have dealt with it appropriately and make good choices. Unfortunately that story is played out every day thousands of times in this country and in this case an aggressive prosecutor was made aware of it so he's going to pay a price for his choice. IF the step mom doesn't see the video, none of this is brought up. Does all of the publicity help the girl? Probably not.

Maybe it is time for women to start taking responsibility for their own actions instead of constantly playing the victim card.

Bullies, which I despise, get away with inflicting much more emotional trauma on a daily basis, but nobody does anything about it.

Yet this guy, who didn't record it, wasn't in it, now gets his career destroyed for sending a video?

Society is messed up.

Ask that girls parents what they were doing. Where were they?

Maybe one of the stipulations for his coming to Nebraska was that he get help... the coaches evidently knew about this last March or something, and they still brought him in. Maybe they told him that he needed to get help.

Too many assumptions being made in this case before we know all the facts. It was stupid of him to send the video, but show me one person who hasn’t done stupid things in there life.

It doesn’t excuse him, but to say this act defines him as a person without knowing all the facts is disheartening as well.

All I’m saying is what others have said as well, let this play out more before throwing the book at him.

The parents were divorced you would think because the Step mother found the video on her phone..

What’s difficult is that they were and still are teenagers and at this age stage of their life you do not make the correct Decisions majority of the time in life..

You know how sometimes bad dudes go free because of a technicality? This may be the opposite, where a dude gets rung up on a technicality.

The ‘spirit’ of the laws in play here were not really designed to cover one to one communication. They were written to cover more sinister situations. But by the letter of the law, Washington has to answer for his behavior.

I think the administration should keep Mo and use this as a teaching tool for others. Redshirt him this year and then unleash him in 2020. Oklahoma redshirted Joe Mixon, we can do the same. It's time Nebraska stops acting like a bunch of pussies. You have Clemson giving their players steroids. Do those dumbasses know we invented steroids? Time we step our game up. GBR.
