According to FOX

This morning on Big Noon kickoff… they were reporting the top 4 names for the HC job were Matt Rhule, Gary Patterson, Bill O’Brien, & Jeff Monken? That list sure seems to have changed. Does anyone truly have a list of names that could be the head coach or is everyone just guessing at this point?

Nebraska vs other teams

Nothing new per se, but couldn’t find best thread to fit this in. It really resonated watching Tennessee vs Georgia.

Such an important facet of the game that I’m always noticing involves preparation and football intelligence. That’s how you can potentially overcome any talent deficiencies- by maximizing your own potential.

What I see far more often than not are other teams that simply look better prepared than Nebraska. We’ve all boiled that down to “coaching.” Regardless of some teams having superior speed, size, strength, what I see is better awareness, preparedness and fundamentals like leverage and tackling.

I saw no confidence/swagger from the offense yesterday, no vibe that they really knew what they were doing or how they were trying to do it. Team almost looks confused. Smothers did seem more comfortable than Purdy.

Busch for example has prepped his defense way more than Chinander did to at least have them ready to line up on time. That’s a big improvement, even if not quite enough all the time.

I just can’t excuse how discombobulated the offense looks. Ignoring any physical shortcomings, we don’t look ready to run and execute a plan that involves running a few types of plays with any competence, regardless if they are successful.

Purdy is completing around 40% of passes with average yds per completion less than 3 yds and a QBR below 50.

Maybe he’s relatively inexperienced, but he’s an athlete who has practiced the position every day for multiple years. Those number show a gross incompetence pointing arrows beyond his raw talent.

OL may lack athleticism, but how many times have they been beat from lack of recognition of what’s happening?

While it’s a complex game, all the time they dedicate to it should yield much better results on the spectrum of playing to the best of your abilities.

Recruiting Nebraska makes new offers on busy visit day

Nebraska may have lost the game to Minnesota on Saturday but the team did host nearly 50 prospects for the game day. There were several 2023 commits and prospects on hand plus a lot of promising 2024 and beyond athletes. A bunch of new offers went out after the game so let's run through them and this post will be updated if more pop up.

>> The most intriguing offer of the day is easily 2023 Texas QB JT Fayard.

Obviously the Huskers do have a 2023 QB in William Watson III so I'll be checking around in the coming days to see what this offer means in the big picture. I'll have a full story on Fayard's offer tomorrow morning, I just got off the phone with him.

>> One of the players I had my eye on coming into the visit weekend to get an offer was 2024 DL Coy Okeson out of North Dakota. He did indeed pick up and offer from the Huskers on Saturday.

>> Another player I mentioned in the visit preview that was on offer watch was 2024 safety Koi Perich from Minnesota. He also got an offer.

>> Nebraska also offered a trio of local players for preferred walk-on opportunities. Elkhorn South running back Cole Ballard has been a great player for the Storm since his freshman year when he was voted team offensive MVP. Ballard has an opportunity to walk-on and got the same offer from Oregon this week.

Omaha Westside kicker Tristan Alvano also got an offer from the Huskers to walk-on today. ATH Mason Blankenship-Jones was also offered the opportunity to walk-on at Nebraska today.

The entire North Stadium needs to be gutted, including Alberts. After reading the Frost contract.....

After that, Alberts has no business picking another coach.

The whole North Stadium needs to be gutted after that BS. 6 wins gets you a 10 year contract?

They have no concern for the fans, and couldn't care less about a winning program after that horse manure.

The proof is in the contract, BS on what words come out of the pie holes. I just lost every ounce of respect for Alberts, he's just another loser based on the contract. If he didn't like it, then he should have resigned. He didn't so he's all in.

The surest way to attract an elite defensive coordinator

or offensive coordinator for that matter is to hire them as your head coach

5 million per year will attract a lot more candidates than 1 million per year

I do think there is something to be said for having a head coach who has proven to be an elite coordinator
you then have 2 coordinators on one side of the ball for film review - game planning - in game adjustments etc

Kirby Smart and Ryan Day are both heavily involved in their side of the ball from their coordinator days

you then have 5-6 million dollars invested in one side of the ball at the coordinator level

this is not to say that a position coach like Mickey can't be successful - just another angle which I'm sure is not lost on Trev

Football The Nebraska defense deserved better and that’s what makes it more painful

The Nebraska defense did its job yesterday. They shut out Minnesota in the first half and despite giving up 20 second half points, the Huskers were in it down to the last throw that slipped through the hands of Trey Palmer. This isn’t a time for moral victories, but the defense earned a pat on the back after its performance. However, they deserved so much more. They deserved a win.

A Northwestern Setter was injured after colliding with the stands going after a ball today. She was ultimately carried out on a stretcher. 😥

Mickey Joesph for Head Coach

I know it is only one game, but there is so much to like, also there are so many that we are looking at and took over bad programs and it took them a couple of years to rebuild. We are in a rebuild (again). He is a man of Character, Heck of a Recruiter, The Players love him, and he wants to get back to being PHYSICAL. Not afraid to make changes and tough choices. I don't mind a rebuild and am ready to support MJ for Head Coach.

Blaming Mickey 😆😆😆

The millinials are such mental midgets. To blame a coach who only recruited our 3 best players in year one, takes over a dumpster fire after losing to Wayne St aka (Georgia Southern). Still has 3/4 of a leftover, so called coaching staff, and is expected to win? Would not blame Mickey for leaving even if he's offered the job with our fan base.

Football Evaluating Nebraska QBs as offense has looked lost without Casey Thompson

Some thoughts on the Husker QBs and the absolute necessity to get Casey Thompson back if they want a puncher’s chance against Michigan:
