Carter Nelson

I read that Carter really admires Travis Kelce and Carter does not want tom play any other position than TE. Kelce is 6’5” and weighs 250. Carter is 6’4” or 6’5” and it’s reported that he he weighs 210-215. From the images I’ve scene of him, he may not have the frame or bone structure to add 40 lbs of muscle. The article says he does not want to play Defence. He is clearly a gifted athlete and should be able to find a home as a starter somewhere on anyones roster, but if he may just want night end it may limit him.

Baseball Live Thread BSB FINAL: Nebraska 5, South Alabama 4

We're back for the second weekend series of the season as Nebraska (0-3-1) travels to Mobile to take on South Alabama (4-1) to begin a three-game set at Stanky Field. Big weekend for the Huskers who need to start piling up wins before digging themselves in too big of a hole.

Tonight could be a pitcher's dual as both teams send out its aces as LHP Emmett Olson (0-1, 5.06 ERA) takes the mound for the Huskers after a pretty good start last Friday against San Diego. RHP Jeremy Lee is the starter for the Jaguars. He's a budding ace for South Alabama, becoming a Freshman All-American in 2021 and shutting out Northwestern State in the season opener last week.

This is Nebraska's second-ever trip to the state of Alabama this weekend. The only other series was a three-game set against Alabama in 2007. Huskers won that series 2-1.

No video stream tonight, but Saturday and Sunday's games will be live on ESPN+. Just radio tonight.

Here's some pregame talk with assistant coach Lance Harvell (sad to say he shaved his beard)

What was the message to the team after last week?

"The message was, regardless of the outcomes and results and the wins and losses, we got better as the weekend went on. There was a lot of good things to take away from last weekend and we just have to do a better job of it coming out this weekend. We challenged them to set the tone and come out and play our game from the get go and not let up for nine innings.

How helpful is it in a game like baseball where you don't have to wait very long to play?

"It's big. Just the nature of the game. Then the nature of this group too. Everything that we know about this group and what we've seen leading up to this point, we got a great opportunity to go and prove it right away. The resiliency and the toughness of this team. What a great opportunity to showcase that this weekend."

Basketball Emmanuel Bandoumel's emotional postgame talk a catalyst for recent success

According to Sam Griesel, a motivating and moving postgame speech from an injured Emmanuel Bandoumel following the loss to Northwestern in January has helped Nebraska basketball go on this winning run. Here's more on that, as well as the matchup with Minnesota this Saturday:

1992 NU vs. CU

Thoughts after rewatching it…

Sweet revenge on Halloween. I’m sure most of us remember the 1991 tie and the 1990 loss in Lincoln. (The 1990 game was a punch in the stomach. When Nebraska was up 12-0, I thought they would win a national title). The crowd in the 1992 game was intense, perhaps as much as ever at home. What is it about miserable weather home games and rowdy crowds? I’ve never seen a visiting QB as rattled as Detmer was. He was a freshman thrown to the wolves. He threw a pick right away and it didn’t get better from there. Alberts, Hill, and Parella chased him all over the field. Meanwhile, Frazier and the “We-Backs” were rolling with options and counters.

Despite transitioning to a pass heavy offense, Colorado was formidable. They were ranked 8th and finished 9-2-1 with losses to Nebraska (#8) and Syracuse (#6). They were flushed with NFL quality players- Kordell Stewart, Deon Figures, Rashaan Salaam, Rae Carruth, Christian Fauria, Lamont Warren, Chris Naeole, Chad Brown, Greg Biekert, Ted Johnson, Michael Westbrook, etc.

Stray observations…
Fans threw oranges on the field

Shields ran a fumblerooski

Nebraska attempted a fake field goal pass early on that failed

Parella clearly had a strip/sack play called down because of instant replay

Nebraska would go on to route Kansas the following week in similar fashion and then the loss at Iowa State happened. The ISU game is still perhaps the most inexplicable Nebraska loss ever.

Bol is a 7-foot-2 prospect who Rivals ranks as the No. 31 overall recruit in the country. He's playing at Sunrise Christian Academy in Bel Aire, Kansas. Bol has all sorts of high-major offers, including Michigan, Illinois, Iowa, Texas, Texas Tech, Missouri and others.

Bol has officially visited Missouri and Michigan already. Unofficials include Notre Dame, Kansas and Evansville, where his guardian, Marcus Wilson, coaches.

OT: golf & the netflix series "Full Swing"

There is a Netflix series “Full Swing” that’s pretty cool.
I’ve only watched part of the first episode and all of the 4th episode. Have a friend at my club who is the father of the golf athletic trainer in this episode, which is why I watched episode 4 first.
The episode follows a PGA tour pro by the name of Joel Dahmen. I’ll root for this guy every tournament he plays in from now on. Just a very likable guy who has a lot left in the tank untapped.
He was pretty much off my radar before, but no longer.
Looking forward to the rest of the episodes.
Enjoy!

Recruiting Dylan Raiola: 5-star QB sets Nebraska visit + addressing UGA visit rumors

There is some big visit news to report.

Nebraska is set to host the number one player and quarterback in the 2024 class in March. Arizona five-star Dylan Raiola sent me a text to say that he will be in Lincoln on March 25.

The former Ohio State commit visited USC the last weekend before the contact period closed. Now a date has been set for coach Matt Rhule to take a big swing at landing the nation's top prospect. A strong push has been made by Nebraska since Rhule took over. Every assistant coach on the staff visited Raiola's high school the day before that USC visit.

Raiola told Rivals' Adam Gorney what that visit by Nebraska's assistants meant to him.

"It meant a lot that coach Rhule sent the whole staff on offense and defense to come out. It shows how much that we mean to them and my family. It’s honestly a blessing and I’m very grateful that they view me and my family like that.

“No other school has done that. Nebraska wants to win right now and they have the right pieces to do that. They have young coaches and that’s just going to bring juice into the building and make it a whole lot of fun.”

Nebraska is a real threat in this recruitment alongside Georgia and USC.
