Baseball Cole Evans named B1G Player of the Week

The transfer outfielder and Grand Island native was named the B1G Player of the Week after hitting .818 (9-for-11) last week with three doubles, two home runs, seven RBI and four runs scored across three games against both Northern Colorado and Illinois State.

Evans has stepped up in a big way with usual outfielder Garrett Anglim out due to a hamstring injury. Evans just enjoyed a career day where he went 4-for-4 Saturday against the Redbirds with a pair of doubles and four RBI.

Huskers return to action Tuesday against Omaha at 6:05 p.m. at Haymarket Park.

Tourney Cinderellas

Haven't followed much CB this year outside of the Huskers and a few major storylines. So who are this year's tourney teams that are going to make some noise only for you to come back in a week or two and say: "Yeah, I should've seen that coming"

Who is going to be this year's St. Joe's, George Mason, VCU or Loyola?

Jesus Revolution

Saw it this week, and it triggered so many things from those days. It probably had as much effect on culture, as anything.
It is certainly very well done, and is a pretty accurate depiction of the wondering, and wandering, that teens and young adults were experiencing during and post Vietnam.

How the older generation perceived, and responded to 'hippies' during those years, was also pretty spot on.

I laughed and cried through the whole movie. I was 14 in 1970, so lived a lot of it, especially as it pertained to forming my spiritual truths.
Missed vietnam by less than a year. Draft ended my senior year of high school.

Have you seen it?

What did you think?

Football Spring Ball Countdown: Eight thoughts on Huskers with eight days to go

With eight days left until spring ball begins, I collaborated with @Steve Marik to give eight thoughts on the Huskers – from a potential role for the suddenly exciting Heinrich Haarberg and depth at offensive tackle to candidates for potential position switches and the "filtering out process" that's about to commence.

Basketball WBB: Nebraska set to face Missouri State in WNIT

Before anyone says anything, this is for women's basketball, not men's.

The Nebraska women's basketball team will have a taste of the postseason as they were announced as an automatic qualifer for the WNIT Sunday night. Having been the top team in the Big Ten that didn't make the NCAA Tournament, the Husker became that automatic qualifier. Nebraska finished 4-11 against its 15 NCAA Tournament opponents this season. Full bracket for the WNIT will be announced tomorrow.

Recruiting Five Thoughts: Texas Under Armour Camp

Spent the day at Arlington Martin High School yesterday checking out the Under Armour Camp. Here's my first batch of thoughts on the event overall. Hit the link..

Musings about my passed brother...

Entering Offutt AFB with him as a 15 year old high school Junior in 1971. I was impressed. After leaving the gates if an Army or Marine recruiter had approached me I might have become a career rifleman.
Summer of 1970 before he went into USAF. Coming back from fireworks purchase in Yankton I dozed off with long curly hair flopping out of the window. When I woke up and was loosening knots out of my hair, he laughed at me and said , "Damn hippie."

I just saw that it is 10:54 PM. I need to get my invalid wife out of her power chair and into bed. I may add to this later.
