Dante Moore

5 star freshman QB from the midwest who has failed miserably at UCLA. His HC, Chip Kelly, is about to be fired and Moore's mother posted all over FB that he'll be leaving ucla because of the coaching incompetence.

Will Rhule and Co. throw 7 figures at him to come to Lincoln?

Football Elkhorn South's Ethan Duda commits to walk on at Nebraska

Duda is a 6-foot-5, 220-pound tight end/linebacker for Elkhorn South. He committed to Air Force back in July and was offered a walk-on spot by Nebraska in late October.

According to MaxPreps, Duda has 19 catches for 259 yards and four touchdowns this season. Defensively, he has 46 tackles and two sacks.

Elkhorn South beat Millard South in a Class A semifinal last week and will play Omaha Westside for the state championship Nov. 21.

Tax Money to the Athletic Department

I’ve always taken pride in the Athletic Department’s business model here at the University not requiring Nebraska Tax Payor funding,

It’s such a unique structure considering that most all other public Universities do.

If Nebraska can do it, and with Tax Payor Funding/Money always in short supply, why haven’t the other major Schools and Athletic Departments transitioned over the years to this model?

Nebraska has been able to build and maintain an elite status amongst the others. What’s the history here? Why is Nebraska so unique?

Football Rhule: QB updates, Doss and Nation redshirt plans, inoculation and "easy narratives"

Rhule gave his final updates ahead of Wisconsin at today's lightning round: Updates, philosophies, inoculation and "easy narratives."

Hit the link:

Fidone

Randomly thought about this today....do you think he gets a 5th-7th round draft grade? Or almost certainly an UDFA. He's our best offensive player and everyone knows the talent is there too. However, he's got serious injury questions and even if he plays well the next 2 or 3 games he doesn't have much experience.

With a huge upgrade at QB (by that I mean like the 70th QB in the country) staying would be great for him draft wise in 2025. But if we don't make an upgrade what's the point of staying. More injury risk from terrible passes. Just a thought. I have no idea if he's draft worthy after the season is over.

Jack Woche?

Why not give, ‪Jack Woche a shot?… Is a transfer on NU's roster from Ole Miss who obviously had some type of talent for Kiffin to bring him on… Looks to be a Dual Threat type from Texas who played his final year at IMG and won a championship and yet, no ones talking about him...

I’ve never been a fan of the QB carrousel but considering the atrocious situation NU finds itself in, what do they have to lose at this point?

What would be the problem in giving him at least a couple of series to give it a go?

Football Wisconsin beat writer gives Braelon Allen/Tanner Mordecai updates, talks brutal Phil Longo year and picks Badgers to ... lose

Well ... Wisconsin beat is picking the Huskers. Nebraska beat (aka Inside Nebraska) is picking the Badgers. Something's gotta give on Saturday!

Stuff I heard

Remember this is just stuff that is passed on to me.

KU QB probably not playing this weekend and they might be saving his redshirt. Could stay at KU or go back to Cali. NU is interested

Brix is probably N

Hunter Andrews and Glenn Patterson, I guess keep an eye on those recruits.

Jaxon Lee (should hear he is in soon)

Not sure if this is news or not but I guess there are some Bishop Gorman recruits in town this weekend.

OT: RYZE Mushroom 'coffee'

ordered some a week or so ago. it arrived a couple days ago.

i was skeptical about a blend of: Lion's Main; Turkey Tail; Cordyceps; Reishi; Shiitake; and, King Trumpet mushrooms tasting anything other than disgusting. i gave it a shot.

it is quite good. i really like it and it's likely - mostly - replacing my normal morning cup of coffee. i may still have a cup of regular coffee bean based coffee in the afternoon here and there, but i must say, this stuff is really good. i get the same lift i get from coffee, but no let down/crash after.

disclaimer, i drink my coffee with a non-dairy creamer, no sugar. i could see for a black coffee drinker, you might experience a bigger delta between the two. but for me, with the small amount of creamer i use, it pretty much tastes like a nice cup of joe.

RYZE is the brand and before anyone asks, no - this isn't network marketing or mlm, and i get no commissions and i don't own the company. though i would like to own the company. Winking

GBR!!!

No idea if any truth to this but…

Got a text today stating info about Tulane’s QB being a transfer target to Nebraska. Don’t know a lot about him other than seeing bits and pieces of their games this year. If legit would be a big upgrade. Driving force is wanting to play at the Power 5 level. I googled the source and I went from thinking this is bs to maybe this has some merit to it. Anyone else hear anything on this at all?

Basketball WBB: Nebraska commit, Elkhorn North star Britt Prince named to Naismith High School Top 50

Via Nebraska Athletics Communications:

Nebraska women's basketball signee Britt Prince was included in the 2023-24 Jersey Mike's Naismith Trophy Girl's High School Player of the Year Preseason 50, when the Atlanta Tipoff Club announced its watch list for the national award on Thursday, Nov. 16.

Prince, a senior at Elkhorn North High School, signed her National Letter of Intent to be a Husker on Nov. 8. Through her first three high school seasons, the 2023 Nebraska Gatorade and MaxPreps High School Player of the Year totaled 1,790 points, 574 rebounds, 362 assists and 276 steals. Prince averaged 24.2 points, 8.6 rebounds and 6.2 assists while hitting 59 percent of her shots from the floor, including 46 percent of her three-pointers, and 92 percent of her free throws while playing for her mother and coach Ann Prince at Elkhorn North.

An adidas All-American and a Max Preps Junior Second-Team All-American in 2023, Prince is a three-time Super State and All-Nebraska selection while leading the Wolves to three consecutive Class B state championships. At the 2023 state tournament, Prince totaled 84 points on 29-of-40 shooting, including 10-of-14 from long range. She was also a perfect 16-for-16 at the free throw line. During the regular season, Prince recorded a triple-double with 33 points, 11 rebounds and 10 assists in a win over Hastings.

She averaged 23.4 points per game as a freshman and 24.1 points per game as a sophomore.

A talented all-around athlete, the 5-11 Prince finished fifth at the state cross country championships as a freshman, before winning state titles as a member of the 4x400 relay team on the track as both a freshman and sophomore. She also won state gold in the 800-meter run as a sophomore, after taking silver in the event as a freshman. She added another relay gold in the 4x800 relay as a sophomore after taking silver as a freshman.

An Academic All-State selection in both cross country and basketball in 2023, Prince is a member of National Honor Society and the Honor Roll at Elkhorn North.

Reason our offense is no good

You know, you can look at a play call here and there, you can pick on the OL for not winning every battle, yada, yada, yada.

But the reasons why our offense is really bad are simple. In order of importance:

1. We don't have a decent QB on the roster. If you want to blame someone, you can blame Rhule for Sims (although if Sims had played here just as well as he played at GT, we'd be at least 7-3 and probably 8-2 now). But OK, Sims is on Rhule. Casey Thompson wouldn't have been the answer either and frankly Smothers would probably be better than any of the options we have now. But Smothers wanted to get closer to home and thought like all of us that Sims would be the man. Sucks for all of us, but we at least know now that this is a MAJOR priority for next season. There will be a number of good QBs on the market in the portal and Rhule needs to secure 1-2 of them. He knows that as much as anyone else does.

2. ALL of our experienced WRs were lost for the season or lost for a time. We are playing with Freshman players, a former walk on, and a hobbling Kemp. This should resolve itself over time, but expect that Wisconsin and Iowa have seen the film and they'll be accosting our young and not yet physically strong receivers big time. As for TE, Fidone is still a new player too and will be better next season. No one expected what Gilbert ended up being.

3. Even though E. Johnson is looking better every week, we lost our 2 best backs who would have been game changing weapons in these close games, and the one RB who we thought was the most talented is a shell of himself from last season. This is the 3rd most important factor, but one would have to believe that Ervin and the other Johnson would have made some plays that may have swayed the outcome against MSU and Maryland.

That's it, it not play calling, it's not a terrible scheme. We're playing offense this season with one arm and leg tied behind our back. Sucks for us, but it's the truth. The other thing that's true is that 1 and maybe 2 of our losses are on the Refs and their inability to call games or look at instant replay. If you consider that we could be 7-3 right now with the currently healthy offensive lineup, Rhule deserves COTY.

Garrett Nelson - Bad Decision

Had this kid stayed and gotten some schooling from these new defensive coaches, he might not be a player who's just looking for a practice squad to play on. Lesson for other players. Our players fell so far behind on the development curve that any player who's a 4th to 6th year player and feels that they have the talent for the show should stay here as long as they can before taking that leap.

However, there are some players in that situation who should retire:

Corcoran
Piper

They've been passed over by younger players here. Last Saturday was the best play by the left side of our OL all season.
