Volleyball Lexi Rodriguez Earns B1G Defensive Player of the Week

From Nebraska Athletics Communications:

Nebraska junior libero Lexi Rodriguez was named Big Ten Defensive Player of the Week on Monday, the conference office announced.

For the two-time All-American, it's the second time this season and fifth time in her career she has received Big Ten Defensive Player of the Week.

Rodriguez led the Huskers to a Big Ten title over the weekend with 5.67 digs per set in sweeps of Michigan and Iowa. The Sterling, Ill., native had 19 digs in a sweep at Iowa on Sunday as the Huskers clinched the outright Big Ten title. She also had 15 digs and four set assists in a 3-0 win over Michigan on Friday, as the Huskers held the Wolverines to a .047 hitting percentage.

For the week, the Huskers held their two opponents to a combined .086 hitting percentage, and they continue to lead the nation in opponent hitting percentage at .131.

Rodriguez's selection marks the 17th time the Huskers have earned one of the Big Ten's weekly awards (Player of the Week, Defensive, Setter, Freshman)

(Women's Coaches Poll released on Tuesday)

Ok, I slept on it…..

….. and I STILL hate our ending 100%…. But maybe in a more measured tone, some thoughts…..
* loved our beginning… came ready to play
* early on, defense looked locked in
* to me play of the game, not converting 4th and 1 … loved going( we really had no choice ) but not a fan of call
* Chubb’s gets a lot of grace from me… he has hardly played so saw a lot to like
* punting game looked weak… was it windy there?
* defense weakened and we had no spy on Mordecai
* thought Grant and Johnson were great… loved Coleman as well
*WAAAY too many bad arm tackles… I think Mordecai easpecially gained 75 yards after being initially hit

Oh well….my daughter in law who has NEVER known me when we had good football said she felt sorry for me on som many words… my lot in life I guess😂
