Why does every other team I watch have a designed play where a receiver or running back runs a delay route parallel to the line of scrimmage?

Usually the receiver is covered by a linebacker who can't keep up and the play results in a nice gain.

Is anything close in NU's playbook?

Forward passes are dangerous…

I don’t think we have the personal, I think coach Rhule said we were down to four receivers
We don't have the personnel. QB's could not process fast enough to see open guys when they were open. Getting killed every play because our OL couldn't protect and defenses understanding both of those issues and scheme to it was our nightmare. Got to find a QB and get a couple transfer OL guys. We got speed, but now young WR's need to learn how to get open. The best thing that happened this year was all the young guys that got a lot of game reps. We have the foundation, just need a real QB.

It's actually not really known but it predates Switzer also. Some guy (for some reason) researched it. Found reference to it from the early sixties but not the origin
I think it was Woody Hayes that said that in response to a question from a critic about his “three yards and a cloud of dust” offense.

I believe I heard Woody Hayes saying this and have never hear TO mention it..

If fact Osborne convinced Devaney to open up his offense when Devaney made him offensive coordinator..

We have to lead the nation in non contact injuries, practice injuries and season ending injuries. Playing touch football in practice didn’t help either as we saw with frost. Need a new S&C coach who is an expert on keeping players healthy. A grass field probably wouldn’t hurt either.
