Football Mickey Joseph updates Casey Thompson's status, Huskers QB situation

“Casey (practiced) a little bit (on Wednesday). Chubba (Purdy) took most of the reps – him and Logan (Smothers) – but Casey went a little bit yesterday. We’ve got a game-time decision on Casey to see if he’s gonna be able to go."

Never say never. Casey Thompson is telling Mickey Joseph that he will be ready to play on Saturday:

LA RB- Barnes Commits

for those that don’t believe MJ will be here in some sort of fashion next year. Read

"Mickey knows what it takes to make it to the next level, he is a Nebraska legend and he is from The Boot so I believe we could get along well and make things pop,” Barnes told 247Sports...I just feel Mickey Joseph has got some things cooking up in Nebraska.”

everything he talked about was MJ. Kids like him aren’t coming to NU w/out MJ. And MJ wouldn’t BS these kids

New Pipeline Jerky Just Launched: NIL for Nebraska's O Line

Folks - yesterday we launched a new jerky called 'Pipeline Jerky'. We all know we need better Offensive Linemen. The entire idea behind this is create NIL opportunities for offensive linemen to build up Nebraska as a place that all of the best linemen in the country want to come to because of these opportunities.

We hope you'll give it a try and let us know what you think - just trying to do our part to be a part of the solution! GBR!

Am I missing something w/ Minny (-16)?

The way I look at it, either Thompson's nerve issues clear up and he plays (unlikely per Whipple), or Smothers gets a much bigger work load, which lends itself to keeping the ball on the ground more and a lot fewer bad decisions from the QB position. -16 seems like an overreaction to how NU's offense looked against Illinois after Casey went out, but that was an epically bad choke job by Chubba, compounded by poor play calling.

With the strong likelihood that Smothers is the guy, how that will affect our game plan with a week to prepare, the fact that we know Minny will be looking to take the air out of the ball on offense, and the fact that Minny isn't nearly as good as the Illini -- I just don't see a 16+ point loss. I see something like 24-13.

Might have to pull the trigger and place a sizable wager on the Huskers for the first time this year. Talk me out of it.

QB depth chart

If CT is out for awhile, which no one seems to know, what would the status be of either Haarberg or Masker getting some playing time? Every spring we hear how good they competed, and, if I remember correctly, the looked pretty good in the spring game, for what that's worth. After their play on Saturday, would either of them be any worse than Purdy or Smothers? Are they really not any good, or is it simply they are not getting a chance to play?
