Nebraska Vs. UNO Baskuhball

Huskers look surprisingly decent tonight. They are working Blaise Keita hard inside and he looks great scoring and even better rebounding. I know it’s UNO but they just played Kansas closer than this. I really love how balanced our scoring has been inside and out. Players are being patient, letting the offense come to them.

UNO is much better than Maine and the Huskers look a LOT better this game. The 6’6” freshman Denim Dawson again looking great. Bandoumel looking great. Tominaga barely playing which is fantastic for everyone. Juwan Gary has been surprisingly quiet. But Blaise Keita, maybe not this year but at some point he will at least be a serviceable B1G center. I don’t believe they keep this up but they’re having a good night.

Apparently Bo Pelini is the reason Scott Frost failed

According to this well thought up theory. If only Pelini had given Frost the O.C job back in 2011, he would have been prepared to be the savior of Husker football. Forget the fact he didn't go straight into the job with no experience. Little sample I know, but if only that horrible Pelini had given him the playcalling responsibilities back in '11. You might have a Dabo Sweeney leading the charge in Lincoln( come to think of it, Dani was a position coach before being promoted to head coach).
Probably should have spent more time doing his job. You know preparation, and player evaluation.

Head Coach Sleeper

I know this would never happen, but maybe the real head coach we should be talking about is Bill Busch.

1. Dude seems organized as hell
2. Is recruiter and has been at places that has elite recruiting. Knows what it would take to get folks in here and would bring the people
3. Seems to excel at all positions. He's made our special teams respectable, makes our D look light years ahead of where they've been and also seems to know offense as well with the whole RPO article
4. Seems like a great face of a program
5. Loves the University and knows what it takes to win here.

I know this is a bit far fetched, but man he seems to check more boxes than Mickey. If Mickey were hired keeping Busch is a must. I'm starting to think with some players, he could be an elite D-Coordinator and we really should keep him as that. The turnaround in that group is nuts.

RE: Coach search…We need talent above all else

I think Trev will go with a developer over an elite recruiter. But after considering it more that’s the wrong direction. If we don’t get a coach that can recruit elite talent it won’t matter.

If the goal is to be like Michigan and PSU then I say shoot your shot with a guy like Deion if he’s willing to come. Maybe it would end badly and he would get out coached, but would have a better chance of actually winning any kind of championship again. If you get someone that doesn’t move the needle with recruits we will never be better than middle of the pack.
