Football Rhule wants NU respected again, but Minnesota loss proves it's a long road

Tough loss for Matt Rhule and the Huskers. Another tough loss for Nebraska fans everywhere.

It's a long road to being respected again.

For all u quitters out there

Reading y’all’s posts last night made me think of something, but I couldn’t put my finger on it. I finally figured it out and posted it on another thread. Decided I’m so proud of it, thought I’d start a new thread for it. Not to dip into plagiarism, I cite National lampoons Christmas vacation:

‘Nobody’s leaving, nobody’s walking out on this fun, old-fashioned husker season. No, no, we’re all in this TOGETHER! This is a full blown, four-alarm football emergency here. We’re gonna press on, and we’re gonna have the hap, hap, happiest husker season since Bing Crosby tap-danced with Danny f’n Kaye! And when Matt Rhule squeezes his white fat ass up to the podium the day after thanksgiving, he’s gonna find the jolliest bunch of @ssholes this side of the nuthouse!’

Go big red!

The Blackshirt defense was SO GOOD last night ... Rhule got a stud in Tony White

Situationally, the Huskers did not give up those back breaking plays - playing deep coverage and trusting their corners to run with the Gopher wideouts deep downfield - or trade off with their safety help - all those confusing things that secondaries must do to play against a good offensive team - with a QB who can hit those 15-20 yard throws and the Gophers always having the threat to run heavy inside or off tackle/reverse, etc. But man they have good wideouts and the Husker secondary was REALLY well coached & showed their confidence in how they (a) came up and tackled in run rupport (b) ran deep down field step for step and handled the point of contact without tripping or causing a PI - just perfect coverage on a many handful of deep routes the Gophers kept trying to sneak over the top of the D. Brown even rolled coverage and picked one off as they were in Red Zone - a play only made the team is very well schooled in how to handle zone coverage. Bend don't break in middle of field - we then started wearing them down and getting pressure with front 3-4.

Even after they kicked out Ty Rob, we got a key sack from the interior DL. Total bad a** play when we needed it. Just like defense pretty much whole game. Freshmen DL are REALLY solid too - that's so exciting.

I think things will be okay, good defense can carry you a long ways, basically so long as you run the ball and don't turn it over. Whoops. Better Fix it Satterfield, I don't have NEAR the confidence in Satterfield as I do White, not even close really, but I'll give rhule benefit of the doubt
