Man up

You guys sounds weak. What’s a loss? We knew what was possible and it happened. No quit giving these trolls some to talk about all week. We are going to be ok. First game under a new regime. Sure we looked pretty bad but we’ve got stuff to work on now. We can use this to learn from and we will. I still believe in Rhule and this team. Go to Iowa City if you wanna act like little
Bitches.

How are you surprised ?

Real question. I'm at a loss that some of you totally besides yourselves and ready to give up on Rhule. Are you adults with functional eyes , ears , and brains? You do realize we suck , have sucked , and will continue to suck this year. Just our Oline alone coming back was a death nail. If you watched any tape on Sims you had to question if he'd make a difference in a positive way . Our receiver's room was real shaky. I saw one dimensional . You have a team that won't stop creating stupid penalties and turnovers. Did you suddenly think it would change ? Why ? If you haven't learned by now that talk is meaningless, I don't know what to tell you. How in the Phuck is this Rhules fault ? I guarantee he's probably thinking " WTF " ? No wonder these guys lose . He can't fix this shit show this year, didn't expect him too. Quit believing anything the media says and use your brain, you'll be less stressed out.

Volleyball Game Thread FINAL: Nebraska 3, Long Beach State 0 (25-18, 25-8, 25-21)

After that disastrous performance this morning, I'm back at the Devaney Center to see a very good No. 4 Nebraska (6-0) team face off against Long Beach State (3-3) and former assistant Tyler Hildebrand for the second straight season.

The Huskers are coming off a huge in-state win over No. 16 Creighton on Wednesday. With the Bluejays without All-American outside hitter Norah Sis, Nebraska shot out to a quick 2-0 lead in the match. Creighton fought back to take a set in the third, but NU closed it down in the fourth to move to 22-0 all-time against their in-state rival. Here's that recap from Wednesday:

And here's your preview of this Long Beach State team who has quite a setter in redshirt sophomore Zayna Meyer. The Beach knocked off previous No. 1 Texas earlier this season, so this team can play at a high level.

While they didn't talk too much about LBSU in their availabilities this week, here is a What We Learned with Cook:

And the Players' Corner with Bekka Allick and Harper Murray:

Will Husker fans be willing to wait three years?

Trev gambled on a coach that never won a ranked game as a P5 coach. Everyone said that Rhule takes 3 years to rebuild.

Now, the reality is sinking in. Bowl eligibility looking like a distant dream. 3 wins could be all we see.

This is an offense that is just brutal. Forget about the turnovers, it's not sustaining drives against bad defenses. We made Colorado's seem like a juggernaut.

The sad part, the roster is overall improved and is suffering from a severe mistake in accepting Sims in the portal and neglecting the WR position. Those decisions by Rhule has had devastating consequences for the entire program and outlook.

The question is, how long will the Husker fans be patient?

Look at what Colorado is getting for $30M vs what we're paying Rhule. On top of what we're still paying previous coaches.

Trev is asking A LOT for us to just accept losing and wait for this miracle year 3 that may or may not happen.

*Edit for accuracy on ranked teams

I'm amazed how jaded many on this board have become.

Yeah, It's not hard to get that way when we've had what we've had the past 8 years. It's a combination of bad coaching and recruiting fostered by some really bad decisions by our administration. But that's in the past, so it's time for many here to buck up and be a little more positive, at least until there's reason to be negative again. Some points:

1. The athletic program, for the first time since TO, is now being run by someone who is competent and understands what it takes to win here. Sure, we could have said that about Frost in 2018, but Trev is a pro and for the first time in our athletic history, he opened the checkbook to bring on a coach and staff that's 21st century. No more doing things on the cheap in this program.

2. The new coach has brought a level of organization and accountability to this program that has not been around since TO. As one would expect, it's going to be hard initially because you can't clean up everything in 9 months, but the progress on almost all fronts is noticeable and dramatic.

3. Rhule is not starting from scratch. In the likely top 48 players, 32 were here and playing last year. We have 17 returning starters on a team that frankly, had they been coached in 2022 by a competent staff from January to the end of the season, would have been a 9 win team.

4. We have a new QB who, despite the detractors, is a serious athletic upgrade from any QB we've had the past 6 years. People are worried about turnovers, but it's not just about turnovers, but rather the number of big plays that a QB can make verses the number of turnovers he makes.

5. We have a head coach for the first time since TO who comes in to Nebraska with a history as a winning college football coach. This can't be understated and is one of the big points of optimism. This head coach is at the top of the learning curve, coaching at all levels of football. He's seen it all and has won in college football.

6. We have a coach that seems to be able to secure his recruiting class early and not rely on reaches at the end of the cycle. A coach who seems to be actually able to evaluate talent and character at a much higher level than we have seen since TO.

7. Finally and I think most important, we have a staff now that by all indications can compete on Saturday with other elite coaching staffs in the B10 and nationally. No more getting out coached by the staff at Troy and Georgia Southern. No more being dominated by staffs at Wisconsin, Iowa, or Purdue.

So stop being pathetic wimps and get fired up for what's to come, maybe not early, but over the long-term.
