Hit the link for a story on Gabe Ervin and how the Huskers' four best drives of the season have heavily featured the big back.

Just gotta weave through my story at the beginning from last Saturday's press box.

Football Rhule tasked with teaching players to "overcome the past" and play with joy

Good, honest stuff from Rhule today about what he's seeing from the players.

If you haven't yet, watch his presser from today. It's good:

I'm not a Bishop fan but this was a good topic. Let's see what we think...

Rhule has already done some CRITICAL things RE this Husker team

1) Freshmen DL are outstanding - already disruptive, high level, every down playmakers - they rocked Colorado from start to end & more reinforcements will be coming
2) Secondary play is beyond improved - coverage & tackling & situational awareness are all massively better - feeling this with the underneath LBers too but we need more studs along that LB position - think we will get them
3) Run game showing promise through ugly snaps/fumbles/QB issues/etc. - I see better interior OL push/consistency when faitigue is hitting in late 2nd qtr., early 3rd ... DEFENSE in GOOD HANDS with Tony White ...

Offensive side - REASON FOR CONCERNS = HUSKERS dependent on super young offensive players/recruits to get in & dominate Year 1/2

Raiola has loaded up the OL with top 50 recruits - or he is on the way toward that - please let us land a transfer OT or 2 that are true studs ... raid the rosters of teams left out of the new major playoff conferences

Daniel Kaelin needs to find his JR year form and basically take the reigns as a true freshmen ... or we have to find another transfer QB to bridge that gap ...

And, young group of high end WRs needs to get going ASAP .. we got nobody to make plays for the offense

Satterfield has failed big time w/ how Sims has crumbled under the bright lights - just the way it goes when you are the OC/QB coach - he's got short, short least IMO - especially after msising on Raiola

Football Mikai Gbayor is one of biggest, best early-season surprises

I thought Mikai Gbayor was a transfer candidate last offseason. Then he played 43 snaps at Colorado, and looked good doing it.

Gbayor was pretty good in a press conference setting yesterday, too. He credited Rhule and Dvoracek for helping him believe in himself:

I wonder if a lot of the CU hate I see here is because deep down they're worried their AD made a better choice?

I know that Colorado is a historical rival. I've never had a hate for them, although I think their fans are up there with Wisconsin and Missouri as some of the worst.

The Colorado AD had a dumpster fire on his hands with his football team. He made a choice to gamble a little bit.

However, his investment is a paltry $30M over 5 years. So if the gamble doesn't pay off its pretty easy to get out of. Already, the decision has brought a lot of national media attention and exposure to the program.

Compare this to the choice Alberts made. He's guaranteeing $74M for a coach that hasn't brought much national media attention or excitement to the program. Watching game 1, you could even argue that the team has taken a step back since how it finished the season against Iowa.

Regardless how the game against TCU ends up, it's hard to look at the athletes on the field and them going toe-to-toe with a ranked team and say, "good thing we don't have that here". Momentum breeds success.

How possible is it next week we lose against a coach with almost 2/5 the salary we are paying?

Remember, Sanders inherited a program in far worse shape than ours was. This was a Colorado team that got beat 49-7 by Minnesota. Yet, if they surpass Rhule in year 1 what does that say for Albert's decision? Are Husker fans willing to play "the long game" and wait for that "magical year 3" that may not even occur if we can't generate any excitement to recruit with?

Satt: "Saying Some Prayers to ... Win TO Margin"

I'm sorry, I just cannot believe this is what the guy whose offenses led the SEC in turnovers the past 2 years and is currently leading the B1G in turnovers is actually saying in a press conference

prayers? really?

FIX IT!
