Why isn’t mouthpiece rule enforced?

Seeing 1/2 the players with a mouthpiece dangling from their face masks - isn’t this annoying when they run? If safety is going to be the driver of keeping the clock running why don’t they enforce something that is determined to be needed to aid safety?

Seems like it’s more prevalent this year … or I could just be getting older and annoyed by ridiculous things I shouldn’t be annoyed by🤷

Football Jeff Sims putting too much pressure on himself to make the "winning plays"

I asked Jeff Sims on the Wednesday after the Minnesota game if he was putting too much pressure on himself to make a play. Yesterday, I asked Matt Rhule the same question.

The answer is a resounding yes.

Look back to all of his turnovers and the other major mistakes he's made through two games. There are several issues with Sims' play so far. At their core, though, each one can be traced back to him simply trying to do too much and unnecessarily putting too much on his shoulders.

"I think he really wants to win and is trying to do things to make us win instead of playing each play. That’s really the whole message of our program, is to be in the moment, win the rep and play the play. And you’re not going to win every play. Unfortunately for us in the first two environments, some plays from a lot of different guys have gone from bad to almost catastrophic, so we’re learning those lessons the hard way."

OT: Tax/Annuity Question

@BBTown Bomber would be proud. A number of years ago I bought a NON-QUALIFIED annuity. After starting to take distributions, they say the cost basis is lower than my one time contribution. Considering the entire contribution was post-tax dollars (already paid taxes on it), how can this be?

Does that sound right? They refuse to change it or give an explanation. Can I explain the difference if I file taxes with a different number than their 1099R?

@jim, others?

Recruiting 2025 QB Alex Manske visit

The Huskers No. 1 QB target for 2025 will be in Lincoln for the home opener on Saturday night. Alex told me that his teammate Jack Limbaugh who is also a priority target will not be there but plans to attend the Michigan game.

In his last game Manske was 9-13 with 313 total yard and a pair of touchdowns.

I’m expecting a very large group of unofficial visits this weekend with a lot of in-state and regional players.

Basketball Nebraska basketball to host three recruits this weekend

I've been able to confirm that Nebraska basketball is hosting three recruits this weekend.

There will be one official visitor, and it's 2024 three-star guard Brooks Bahr of Keller, Texas.

The 6-foot-5 Bahr will arrive in Lincoln later today. As a junior at Keller, he averaged 21.3 points, 5.7 rebounds, 3.7 assists and 2.8 steals per game. Bahr has Nebraska in his top eight:

There will also be two unofficial visitors, including 2025 wing Braden Frager of Lincoln (Neb.) Southwest and 2026 four-star combo guard Seven Spurlock of Frisco (Texas) Memorial.

The 6-6 Frager owns offers from Nebraska, Creighton, Iowa and Iowa State. Here's a bit more on the standout from Southwest:

Volleyball The Players’ Corner: Lexi Rodriguez and Kennedi Orr

Great stuff from Rodriguez and Orr yesterday. Lexi goes into the Stanford win while Kennedi describes her new serve that’s gotten her into the rotation. Hit the link.

'Younger generations' should be aware of Colorado's (pretend) 'natty'.

Of course those of us who knew of Colorado as the Huskers' 'whipping-child' throughout virtually all of our youthful lives, we DO NOT really consider the 'buffs' as our rival. (Oklahoma was our ONLY 'Rival'.)

However, Colorado HAS become a 'nemesis', or EVIL side of competition. I'm not spreading rumors. The fact that Colorado's claim to a shared national title was a SHAM is common knowledge, but it may not be known by latter generations. Just sayin..

Rhule reminds me of Frost so far

Well regarded, confident, smooth talking, previously successful college coach starts with hand-picked, chosen-one qb while dismissing other options.

Proceeds to face plant.

Hopefully Rhule’s 0-2 start doesn’t evolve into Frost’s 0-6 start.

I am at the stfu stage of Nebraska football fandom. I am sick of hearing about building, etc. Our bad start was self-inflicted.

Our program’s chronic, multi decade mismanagement of the qb position is mind boggling.
