Our WRs are not good. Period. Can't block at all consistently. Can't get open. What makes them good or even close to the best. Nothing. Glad the seniors are seniors. Coach probably needs to follow them out the door.Lots of finger point which happens when you lose games.
We probably have one of the best WR groups we have ever had. Big bodied guys with experience. Didn't say they are first round draft picks. We have experience, size and speed, not necessarily in the same package but who does? You have track guys, tall guys and lots of guys with good hands. Despite the few drops and the 50-50 balls that our guys didn't come down with, they have done a pretty good job. These guys have made some pretty amazing adjustments and catches despite the ones people seem to hold against them. Look what we started with last year and what we ended up with after the injuries. This year the guys who played after the injuries last year can hardly find the field. I suppose the coaches are just playing the wrong guys.
I am of the opinion that Raiola is having a difficult time adjusting as D's give him lots of different looks. tOSU didn't try to disguise coverage for the most part, they went man-to-man primarily. I don't see the big strong arm from Raiola that I expected to see. He likes to throw balls with touch and has since the first game despite Dr. Dingle's diagnosis. He doesn't seem to be finding outlets and hot route guys although he finally did Saturday. We have good hands at TE but not much of a down field threat, more a possession lumbering kind of guy. Whatever happened to a smaller fast guy in the slot that often had LB covering them?
I would say Sat doesn't impress me with his communication in press conferences. What I do know is, I can't recall any OC that the fans have said anything positive about since TO and that was hit and miss. People didn't like either of Frosts or Riley's and on and on it goes.
I still ask the same questions about play calling, what plays were sent in and which ones did the QB run and which ones did they ditch? What was the D doing to warrant the play? Does Raiola even understand his check downs at this point and what options he has available. There is a lot going through his young head and the learning curve is step.
Probably both. OSU has had Oline problems for a long time. Satterfield isn't a good OC and I would say OSU defense is good but not elite.
The difference in the game was OSU had an easy button in Jeremiah Smith, who is probably the best OSU WR ever and they still only gave him a few targets. So offensive play calling was bad on both ends, combine that with a low number of plays and you get what you got on Sat.
Taylor had a decent OL and run game to help him. DR has neither. We would be 7-1 right now if Raiola had not overthrown wide open receivers in the end zone against Illinois and OSU. Complain all you want about other issues, but we really would be 7-1 had he made those passes. He has also overthrown open receivers on long passes which were not in the end zone. It only underscores that he is talented but still a work in progress. He has been very good but certainly not a freshman phenom. I think Adrian Martinez had a better freshman year than Raiola is having.
Patience.
Uh, we dropped the opening kick, and threw an INT on 3rd & 19 during the last drive. Not to mention DR missing 2 wide open WRs for TDs.
Our line play was great, that's a positive for sure.
OSU skill players played like shit.
Well he was on the field but he never let go of the head set. It stayed in his hand. He just swung it like he was going to throw it.Why was that not 15 yard penalty? Klatt and Gus seemed to think it was obvious
Don’t coaches have bouncers whose job it is to keep them from going onto the fieldHe was on the white in between the field and the sideline. That’s why he was a little bit taken aback by the flag against Purdue.
Ryan day had a complete tantrum practically in the middle of the field and didn’t get flagged.
I can see fans pointing to this L as some undeniable proof of progress even if we lose out
Has happened before
Can’t have that happen this year
Not sure about that, the big 12 is a joke of a conference. The line play across the board is weak in the Big 12, which allows Colorado to thrive. Nebraska has regressed every game up until the tOSU game, that being said, Nebraska is still far better than ColoradoColorado might be playing like a top 25 team now, but they weren’t earlier this year. Can’t say the same for the Huskers.
Running screens against cover 2 looks should be costing Satterfield $$.Banks blocking is costing him $$$, tape don’t lie
Only until USC completed their drive that followed RU’s score to make it the seemingly close one you decided to repeat. Fact is that for the majority of the game, USC had an arm’s length 2+ TD lead.It was 28-20 in the 3rd…
Depends on how both teams look Saturday.Wisky won’t be favored.
