Black Friday Weather

For comparisons sake, Iowa had 422 yards of offense on 64 plays against Wisconsin. Nebraska 478 on 72. I wouldn’t classify Wisconsin as a very good defense.

Iowa is also averaging over 40 PPG at home in conference play averaging 118 passing yards per game. Being one dimensional hasn’t been an issue at home this year.
Compare the osu game? I would say that was a good defense se and we had Satt calling those plays

If we beat Iowa Friday

Why stop at 7... End the season with a bowl win and a three game winning streak. 8-5. I thought NU was an 8-9 win team. The 4 game skid was not in cards. In the history books, an 8 win season looks good.

Yeah a bowl win would be nice, but I'm afraid it'll be pretty meaningless in this day and age. So much opting out by the best players and "you could tell they didn't want to be there" by the best teams. We'll have to get incredibly with whatever team we draw for it to mean much of anything

Remember ,The OC Rhule wanted at first……

Outside of an offer ro be a head coach somewhere..why wouldn't DH come back?
He said he was too tired at the beginning of the season to get back into coaching, which is why he only barely worked at TCU even though you know he had other offers.

We have to hope we can sell him on continuing to work full time again. I am hoping having Dylan here plays a big part. A potentially perfect piece of clay he can mold

If we beat Iowa Friday

Everyone measures success differently.

If you picked Nebraska to win go 7-5 or worse, then you would consider it a successful season.

If you picked Nebraska go to 8-4 or better, you may consider the season a letdown.

If Nebraska finishes 7-5 with wins against Colorado and Iowa, that's definitely a successful season.

If Nebraska loses to Iowa and finishes 6-6, despite making a bowl game. I would be content but wouldn't call this year a successful season.

Give Holgerson Whatever TF he wants.

Yeah the only way Penn State hires Rhule is if he leads us to the playoffs....and if he does that, I doubt he'd want to leave.
I'm not sure why he would want to go back to the nfl, places like ohio state and bama are probably Far less forgiveing on loses.
so hopefully Nebraska it is for rhule, with holgerson as oc and white as dc, building a monster..that would be best imho...

but mainly beat iowa

Coaching Matters Thread

Seems like Rhule is very hesitant to give DH any credit. Was a little disappointed at what I heard at the press conference. Clearly play calling has made a significant difference.

It's not just the players as Rhule continues to say. Maybe he is just trying to be the "nice" guy to his buddy but it'd be okay to credit and complement DH with a good offensive game plan and call.

If it were me, as I said before, give DH full control (recruiting, personnel etc..), make him an Associate Head Coach today and do whatever is necessary to keep DH here. DR and everyone else on offense has benefited and it's only been 2 weeks.
Bc Rhule was told to hire DH. Rhule seemed bummed our offense did so well. He needs to put his ego aside or gtfo

In other games around the country..

The NIU loss could absolutely keep ND out of the four team playoff. Oregon vs Ohio state. Maybe. If Oregon beats Ohio state again, then Ohio state would be out of the 4 team. Now they’re all In

Notre Dame probably still gets into the 4-Team Playoff this year, undeservedly. Mostly by not having to play a conference championship game. At least this year, it will be settled on the field, rather than debating if they should get in ahead of Miami or Penn State.

Personally, I'd rather do away with conference championship games and have a 16-team playoff. Take the Top 16 regardless of conference, no automatic bids. First two rounds would be on campus sites. So yes, regular season would still matter because teams would be playing for home-field advantage.
