In other games around the country..

I like it. Ole Miss and Bama can probably beat anyone when they play well. Doubt they get back in but you never know
If they’re that good, why reward them and give them a title shot if they can’t show up every week? National titles used to have to be earned by finding a way to win every week. Now the system lets teams off the hook and teams that have potential but can’t beat Vanderbilt or Florida can win it all? That’s the nfl. It’s not college football

I think CFB has transformed. You’re right, it’s not the CFB we all know.

What I do know is more games matter now. Rather than finding the 4 playoff teams and then just a bunch of useless battles, there’s now a **** ton of games worth watching at the end of the season with a **** ton of implication.

I’m excited for this and I’ve been on record not liking CFB as much as past years. I’m kind of settling in on this.

I’d love to see a 9-3 Nebraska team get into a playoff. I think we all would. Especially one that got real hot at the end of the year.

I concede that more games matter but there are also a lot more games that don’t matter. Big time upsets used to be great and fun for the casual viewer as the consequences of a bad loss could cost you the season. Big time regular season match ups used to be a de facto playoff game. Now bama loses to Oklahoma and vandy, Notre dame loses to NIU and Oregon beats Ohio state. And guess what? None of those games may end up mattering. I fully agree there are pluses and minuses. I’m not fully against an expanded playoff as I used to be. But I don’t think 3 loss teams should get at large bids and be forgiven some of these losses they have.

We could nitpick it forever. I’m even a traditionalist for the most part. I guess I’ll revisit this after the playoffs.

I just was never a fan, at all, of the 4 teams playoff and wondered why we never mirrored the FCS model. Which we are close to now.

I miss the pre BCS model but a lot of times the two best teams didn’t get paired up.

My favorite model was the BCS. It had issues. And a few years we got some pretty terrible outcomes. But most years, I’d argue we all know who the two most deserving teams are (eliminating the G5 teams from discussion). The 12 team playoff will likely be better than the 4 team. The 4 team was dumb.

Ryan Williams just made an incredible TD catch, called off by a bogus piece of shit flag by the refs for him being covered up… but he wasn’t… outside WR was clearly off the line by 3-4 yards

What.. did they get the refs that usually call our games? LOL
Ref looks right at the 2 in the end zone from 45 yards away and just before he catches it throwes the flag.. I cannot stand these bought and paid for refs.. thought it was worse in the Big.. turns out it's e everywhere

None of those games would have mattered if there was still a 4-team playoff either.

Though I don't like how Notre Dame will probably be able to get into the playoffs most years by getting to control their entire schedule and not having to play a conference championship game. Their schedule is an absolute joke this year. I hope USC finds a way to beat them next week.

The NIU loss could absolutely keep ND out of the four team playoff. Oregon vs Ohio state. Maybe. If Oregon beats Ohio state again, then Ohio state would be out of the 4 team. Now they’re all In

Notre Dame probably still gets into the 4-Team Playoff this year, undeservedly. Mostly by not having to play a conference championship game. At least this year, it will be settled on the field, rather than debating if they should get in ahead of Miami or Penn State.

Personally, I'd rather do away with conference championship games and have a 16-team playoff. Take the Top 16 regardless of conference, no automatic bids. First two rounds would be on campus sites. So yes, regular season would still matter because teams would be playing for home-field advantage.

I don’t think anyone is out, yet. More carnage awaits
So as of today at least, it appears at least two out of SMU/Miami/Clemson get in from the ACC.
Big 12 champion is in (BYU?),
Boise likely in as the highest G5 champ
Oregon, PSU, OSU, Indiana from B1G
Texas, UGA, Tenn from the SEC
Notre Dame at large is in

Most likely upsets I can see for the last weekend are SCar beating Clemson, A&M maybe over Texas (doubtful though)

Man, this is exciting. There could be a 3 loss SEC team that sneaks in but doesn’t look that way at this point

BYU would need help from K-State to get into the Big 12 title game, where they would have to win a rematch with ASU. Could happen, but ASU seems to have the inside track.
