Welcome, "Outside Eyes"!

These last 3 or 4 games it seems to me that Raiola has placed too much pressure on himself and that the coaches have too, making things worse. It has caused him to play too cautiously. I hope he can recover his sense of having fun out there again and to just play football and let his instincts go.
The problem is we all think DR is a stud 5-star QB. He may turn into that but right now unless he has elite talent around him, he is nowhere close to a 5-star QB. We certainly do not have anywhere near enough talent for him to succeed and he is not good enough to overcome it. At least this year.

The last paragraph is a 101 on how to throw your players under the bus.

Edit: here’s the paragraph because it doesn’t show the whole thing on the twitter link.

"This is probably the first time you guys have heard me say: The players have to play. They have to play. They can't just say 'well, did you read what they're saying about Satt?' You are Satt. You are the offense. You're out on the field."
Someone has to be the “fall guy” for players not performing to a standard. All fingers should point to Satt. And if Rhule is the lone guy pointing at the players, he should instead point the thumb back at himself, because he’s next in the chain of command.

Welcome, "Outside Eyes"!

Ugh, yeah. In every business situation I've ever witnessed, when they get to the "bring in a consulting firm to try to fix our problems" stage, it's just a bandaid until bankruptcy. Either that, or you're replacing the CEO with a complete overhaul, which will be the case here. Hate to say it, but this feels like a kiss of death move by Rhule. Probably the most disheartening feeling I've had in the last 2 years with this program. He'll get another year and then he's toast. And rinse and repeat

promoting from within was the fiscally sound option.. but Ted Carter nixed that idea.

Troy can promote from within again.. but if Troy and Rhule are buddies.. well then you gotta jettison the AD too if he wants to sit on his hands.

If Rhule does nothing, and Troy does nothing.. then what?

Will the BOR sit on their hands too?

What about Jeffrey Gold?
According to Rhule, Troy told him that going toe to toe with Ohio State means nothing when you can’t replicate that same level of play the next week.

Troy is doing what he should, and that’s allowing Rhule to fail on his own.

Football Idle for Saturday, Rhule says this is "a week of introspection"

There was a lot from Rhule today, here's a rundown:

> "This week is a week of introspection," the coach said
> Rhule is bringing in outside sources to take a look at the offense and defense
> "I think it's really, really important, though, that our players take accountability in it as well, right?" Rhule wants the players to make the plays that are there to make
> The inconsistency has Rhule looking within himself to find answers
> "There's nothing I won't do" to get Nebraska over the hump

Ffs equivalent to a corporation bringing in an outside firm to look at the companies failures before they have to file for bankruptcy. Ie. (Fire Rhule). Ridiculous

Cost matters. And we have some of the highest wasted costs in college football, and we aren't #1 in revenue or profit from the AD, and we pay for a lot of sports at NU compared to better football schools like Bama. Nebraskans are independent minded and conservative with their money. We aren't a big financial state, we don't have major industry or explosive corporate profits, and where we do have it, many of those folks don't care about anything West of Omaha. NU football is fed by everything west of Lincoln, one of the top agricultural producing states, but generally big AG guys aren't putting billions into a pointless endeavor like an oil man or Nike executive might, who is relying on slave labor for profits anyway. People had to wonder what it means when a state with almost no football talent wastes 50 million on buyouts over three coaches..well incompetence breeds incompetence and you get the worst program in college football. We need a dramatic reset, no name...small contract, small expectations, run the option or variant of power football. Fail, you are fired and start over. We have to do something nobody else is doing. Playing the same game, when we are 10-15 yards behind everybody else just leads to crappy seasons. We would have 2 wins with many teams schedules this season.
This fiscally conservative attitude is what got us in this mess. Rhule was supposed to be the fiscally minded option as Alberts would say, and I think is the reason why Albert's was even interested in the first place. Well, Rhule balked at the first offer that was made, and then dipshit Albert's was scrambling to put a new offer together and way overpaid for Rhule with a huge buyout and contract term. But this is just the epitome of Nebraska leadership in recent years.

Here we are, this is Nebraska where fiscal conservatism means $50 million buyout for coaches every few years, $200 million facilities upgrades which haven't amounted to jack shit, and half a billion dollar stadium renovations that significantly reduce seating capacity and makes it harder for families to see a game.

Matt Rhule Monday Press Conference

after every season for the past 7 people have been afraid of players transferring out

and every season for the past 7 others have said who cares if they transfer, we won 3,4,5 games so they suck anyway

We have had like no one transfer out the past couple of years (personally, I think that has been a problem). So I can't imagine what he is actually referring to.
