This might be my most pessimistic post I've ever put up on here but it needs to be heard.
As I just said in another thread, the defeatist attitude I see on this recruiting board really astounds me. Yes, we lost out on 4 talented targets. Yes, I understand we are free to discuss recruiting (hence the name--rivals), however, these kids have a right to pick the school they want and our coaching staff. There is still an entire month and the closing period ends very soon. We still have good businessmen on our staff who can get us anywhere between an 18-25 final ranking.
I know it sucks that it doesn't look like these kids are coming here, I'm right there with you. But just like when you go to work, do you want to work with people that don't want to be there? The answer is Hell to the No. It's the same thing with these young athletes. If they don't want to be here, find people who do.
I realize that I am defending Riley here if you haven't figured that out yet, but seriously? Your day is ruined after 17 and 18 year old kids decide they don't want to play at Nebraska? Come on, be a better human than that. There will be plenty of chances the next month to do some damage. Do you actually think that our staff is hanging their head about these kids? They knew this was a possibility today and knowing Riley, he will be proactive about the next month.
Wait until NSD, THEN you have a right to question the current Nebraska recruiting tactics. We're going to find out how good this staff is in the next 4 weeks. After that, it's up to Riley and the staff to work on figuring out ways to win big games, because he's not going anywhere anytime soon.
