When the issues involved about what it taught, not taught, who is in charge of what a child is taught and given at what age/grade yes it is political. The teachers unions are political. Having been in two different unions, agendas create political actions and reactions.
Parsing and splitting hairs that’s good. Are teachers who get charged with crimes like what started this thread political? What factors make it so or go against a political narrative
95% of those making decisions regarding the values instilled in your kids enrolled in public schools are consumed with politics. Just because every teacher isn’t an activist (@cavalot) doesn’t mean it ain’t rigged. I don’t even know why it’s even debated… look around you. Look at what public schools are churning out. It’s embarrassing…

I don't believe you because I do look around me. I don't see what all these people on here see. When I see my young relatives from multiple states, from Omaha and Lincoln down to D schools I see little difference then when I was growing up, with the main exception being phones and social media. And social media is exactly why all these parents and old people are worked up. It's amazing how less worked up people who aren't on social media are compared to people who live on social media. Drama.
My cousin has a kid in LPS, elementary right now. I'm so excited to keep tabs on him growing up now. What a social experiment. According to people on here he'll be gender neutral by his junior year.
For every teacher that does this there are tens of thousands who are not so a little perspective

When cops do wrong we hear about the thin blue wall, they protect their own at all costs. Well when teachers are doing wrong, what is the wall that teachers stand behind to be protected by their fellow teachers?
I don't think there is one. I know some teachers have probably escaped justice but the vast majority of perps are arrested and serve their penance whatever that may be. I don't hear a lot about teachers covering for one another, or creating some type of firewall for those that have acted inappropriately.

Back in the day, the bad teacher was sort of just told to leave and they would wander off to a new district and become a problem over there.

Can you point to where I said I hate teachers? I don’t care for their Uber political Union (which donates to issues that have zero to do with education, thus proving they are an enforcer arm of a certain party).

I can't answer for others but the weird "teachers are indoctrinating our kids" bit has really gotten out of hand.
I can only assume that the small% of teachers that post something on TikTock is the main reason for the hate.

In LA the union is asking the district to provide affordable housing to low income people. How is that the districts burden and why would the union not focus its efforts on teacher needs instead of societal issues?!?!?

I agree many are arrested. Doesn’t mean they don’t go on for long periods of time being able/allowed to do so. When I was a student long time ago there were some teachers the kids did suspect and even had two reported to other teachers/administrators at the time. Both were allowed to keep their license, moved to a different school.
When I did teach knew of a couple that bothered me as not for kids to be around by themselves and the school noted it as my issue since teachers there longer than me never said anything. After I left the state, heard one was busted and the other left the district not from their own choice but still allowed to teach on the other side of the state

Nice pivot. You're acting like teachers have a higher rate of sex crimes when in reality I'm sure it represents the same % as the rest of society. This is stuff I have to explain to my kids. One bad police officer doesn't make them all bad. No different for any other profession.
