1 QB coach.2 different QBs on 2 separate attempts.
This was Purdy's first drive of the year. Who knows how he performed those plays that week.
I guess he was wrong for assuming a QB could throw a simple low risk pass1 QB coach.
who by the way said in post game that he didn't even attempt that play in practice because he was running Maryland's plays on the scout team.
I’d like to see him 3 to 4 years into his system elsewhereI'd like to see him 3-4 years into his system.
3 years at Temple
2 years at USC
we shall seeI’d like to see him 3 to 4 years into his system elsewhere
gotta love a playcaller who dials stuff up based on assumptions!I guess he was wrong for assuming a QB could throw a simple low risk pass
all playcallers dial up plays based on assumptions because you cannot know anything for certain.gotta love a playcaller who dials stuff up based on assumptions!
I agree. And that is not to ignore the real problems Rhule faced this year. Nevertheless, we should have made a bowl game this year and we did not. This was not a successful season.Any year you don’t make a bowl game is not a successful season, it’s a losing season..
yes. you can.all playcallers dial up plays based on assumptions because you cannot know anything for certain.
because you cannot know EVERYTHING for certain.they why do bad plays happen to all teams?
Even when he had Spencer Rattler, Satterfield couldn't produce a Top 70 offense. He's never produced a good offense in his entire cacareer
and you believe they knew for a certain that they couldn't execute the corner route?because you cannot know EVERYTHING for certain.
but you sure as hell can know some things for certain.
based on the first attempt (from a better passer who'd actually run our plays in practice that week), I believe it's something they should have known for certain, yes.and you believe they knew for a certain that they couldn't execute the corner route?
So you think it was a wise decision to hire an OC that was terrible with playcalling along with turning the ball over while going and getting a turnover machine in the portal and marrying the two with a program that leads the nation in turnovers since 2012? And you want to wait to see what it's like in year 3 with this bum? That's the sad thing. This could and should have been avoided, but Rhule ignored all the red flags. And we can stop the bleeding with changing it, but the head coach is too stubborn, and the fan base is too stupid to demand it.Depends on the offensive style they run, the players they have, the opponents they face, what kind of turnovers are committed, injuries, whether you are playing from behind vs in the lead.
Shortened games and playing against better defenses will have less yards/points.
Nebraska turns the ball over no matter what coaching staff we have. Why did Nebraska turn the ball over 34 times in 2013
terrible how?So you think it was a wise decision to hire an OC that was terrible with playcalling along with turning the ball over while going and getting a turnover machine in the portal and marrying the two with a program that leads the nation in turnovers since 2012? so because Jeff Sims couldn't execute the throw, they should have assumed Purdy also couldn't?based on the first attempt (from a better passer who'd actually run our plays in practice that week), I believe it's something they should have known for certain, yes.
it's obvious they didn't based on the fact they called it again.
no. because he is the QB coach he should've KNOWN purdy couldn't make that throw and because he's in charge of the entire offense, he should've KNOWN we couldn't execute that play with the appropriate spacing.so because Jeff Sims couldn't execute the throw, they should have assumed Purdy also couldn't?
The second Purdy throw wasn't like the first. Didn't score but was what it should have been, in essence
But I wanna win now.Matt needs 2 more years. It looks like he will live or die by Satt, I could easily see the offense greatly improving or not. The people calling for all their heads are just being childish/impatient. Just like there’s first year coaches who succeed immediately, there’s plenty that improve slowly after 3 years. Matt has done the latter.
R.E.L.A.X.
Fans should demand coaching change? They sure can demand it but what good will it do they aren’t the decision makers. So you think it was a wise decision to hire an OC that was terrible with playcalling along with turning the ball over while going and getting a turnover machine in the portal and marrying the two with a program that leads the nation in turnovers since 2012? so 2 attempts proves that he cannot make that throw?no. because he is the QB coach he should've KNOWN purdy couldn't make that throw and because he's in charge of the entire offense, he should've KNOWN we couldn't execute that play with the appropriate spacing.
wasn't just the throw that was the issue.
it proves we cannot run that play, counselor.so 2 attempts proves that he cannot make that throw?
2 attempts proves that?it proves we cannot run that play, counselor.
so, if they fail to execute any play, just remove it from the playbook forever? Even if they practice it better and improve? Wouldn't be left with very many plays.1 attempt proved it.

I don’t know what that’s so hard for people to figure out. He hasn’t been successful anywhere, so why the F do people think he will be success here.Thats not gonna matter if he's the OC.
it happens all the time with plays. plays go out, plays come in. depends on the team and the players you have.so, if they fail to execute any play, just remove it from the playbook forever? Even if they practice it better and improve? Wouldn't be left with very many plays.
It isn’t. People can choose to be butt hurt over it for as long as they want. I was over the loss before I left the stadium. The staff walked into an offensive roster that really didn’t feature any all league level talent and that was before the injuries. I doubt they were running the offense they envisioned in August. The talent on the roster is young. Even though the results were insufficient, the younger kids benefitted enormously from playing and will be more capable next year. The Oline has trained and practiced for three very different offenses in three years. Maybe instead of chasing the quick fix, let Purdy and Haarberg compete for the spot and go from there. What bullshit. We should have won at least 7 games this year. I am not going to call this year a success. The day ANY Husker fan calls a 5 win season a success is a sad day
Will you stop letting the facts get in the way of a good story??? Darn it someone has an ax to grind!!!His offense that year average 31 points per game.
This year sc averaged 26.
Rattler threw for a little over 3k yards in 22. He threw for 3100 this year.
And that play is a simple, low risk play. Why take that out after 1 attempt? Because they might not execute it the next time? You practice the plays you want to get good at.it happens all the time with plays. plays go out, plays come in. depends on the team and the players you have.
you do what you know will put your team in the best position to succeed.
this is what you don't seem to get, even though you're talking about adjusting to players in this exact same thread:And that play is a simple, low risk play. Why take that out after 1 attempt? Because they might not execute it the next time? You practice the plays you want to get good at.
1 turnover by Simsthis is what you don't seem to get, even though you're talking about adjust to players in this exact same thread:
it's not low risk for us. with our TEs, receivers and quarterbacks, that play IS NOT a low risk play.
it resulted in a turnover 100% of the time it was called in the red zone.
Wow, stunning conclusion you came to.Exactly, 116 in total offense and last in the country in turnovers were the biggest reasons why we had a losing season..
all 3 were TO machines before this year. The biggest problem was going with Sims. At least we aren't tied to him anymore.Every one of our QBs turned into a turnover machine....I'm no Sherlock Holmes, but it appears the one thing they have in common is they all have the same QB Coach.
I don’t know about Satt with what he lacked this year, but the line is better than they were game 1.I would expect Rhule would make changes but we know he won't. To be honest, we need a coach that can improve QB play. Without that person on staff, it will be difficult to get good prospects on our team. These QBs want to improve and they already know they won't. At least odds are against them.
Dylan Riola needed someone to take him farther in development and I think we all know we don't have that guy on staff.
Some people have to learn the hard way so maybe we'll have changes in year 2 or 3.
