Ed Morrow Jr Transferring

The clowns are the ones dissing Osborne.
Is it OK to judge Tom Osborne on the hires he made as AD, or is he completely free from criticism solely because of what he did as a football coach? The two should be judged separately because they were totally separate jobs, but unfortunately some people don't seem to be able to separate them.

Osborne: Great coach. Lousy AD (aside from his B1G maneuver).
Exactly. And just as his record as a coach should not positively influence one's opinion of his record as an AD, neither should his record as an AD negatively influence one's opinion of his record as an AD. I'll defend and argue in favor of TO's record as a coach to anybody, but I think he was mediocre at best as an AD-in fact if not for moving us to the B1G(which I think absolutely was the right move and I give him credit for being involved in it), I think he was pretty close to a failure as AD-certainly with his biggest coaching hires.

With the news...I do wish he fired Miles. Hindsight 20/20 but bad move by Eichorst hitching his wagon to Miles. Who by the way...is another failed hire by our former AD.
Morrow leaving only concerns me from a standpoint of his work ethic, energy and him being the son of alums. Ed was a guy without a position. He's undersized for a big, struggles at the line, can't dribble and can't shoot from outside of 5 feet. He gets abused on defense by opposing bigs and the necessity of having to help on his guy ALL the time, in some part contributed to our terrible perimeter defense. Hopefully Jordy and a newcomer can take up the slack but from a purely basketball standpoint, I don't think he's as big of a loss as some think. It appeared to me that we struggled on both ends late in the season when he was in the game. He should be a role player off the bench in limited minutes in the B1G. IF Miles told him that his minutes were going to be tougher to come by (as they should be) then I can see why he might want to leave. I know this will ruffle some feathers, but that's the way I see it. People want to bring up 6-7 guys that played in the paint in the NBA, but those guys could all shoot the ball. Ed can't or at least hasn't shown that he can. Fire away. I call it like I see it.

I'm sorry, but I'm sitting here reading this, and laughing. Our basketball program is in such a shambles that I can only chuckle at the abject losers that are in charge. And that includes Eichorst.

Looking forward to single-digit wins next year.

IF we are going to EVER be competitive, we have to have better players than Ed. GREAT kid. Hard worker. Should not be a starter on a B1G team.

Yet, Miles STILL recruited Morrow despite the above being true! And...his injury was used as an excuse by some on here and other boards as to why we had another collapse. Imagine that.

The whole "I told you so" comes from the people who saw the crap coming out of PBA a mile away but were blasted for it by the super fans. The excuses for Nebrasketball get old very quickly. The program is crap. Hopefully, when Miles is canned next year we take it seriously this go around.

And we were told Miles should get another year to see what he could do will all the young talent.

I would rather have Jordy playing more and Ed less and I suspect that was what Ed was told by Miles precipitating his transfer. We struggled at both ends with Ed in the game at the end of the season. Ed is not a B1G caliber 5. He could play the 4 IF he could shoot but he can't.

I thought Watson, Morrow and Tschminga would only transfer if they were following Miles to another program? "The way you see it" sure seems to shift magically based on the hard-and-fast rule that absolutely nothing should ever stick to Miles.

And yeh, Morrow's definitely leaving because he's worried that he won't get minutes - on a team that couldn't get out of it's own way when he was injured. Did you dream that one up by yourself, or did that come from one of your inside sources?

OK-I'm not going to sit here and tell you that this isn't bad. But come on-some of you are losing your freakin' minds over this. You would think Ed Morrow, Jr. is the greatesr athlete to ever walk the Nebraska campus in any sport the way people are going nutso over this. For the record, I was OK with firing Miles myself, but come on people.

Uh what happened to the team after he got injured?

I don't recall using Morrow in that post BECAUSE I thought his deficiencies hurt us when he was in the game. I don't view him as an irreplaceable player. If I recall correctly I used Watson, Jordy and Roby. I'm as surprised as anyone about Morrow, but if he was told that Jordy was going to get more of his minutes next year, yeah I could see why he would leave. Tough but that's college sports. Go ahead and vent. He's better suited to play the 5 at a mid major than in the B1G. Let's see where he lands.

Hoosker,

You've probably been laughing for more than a decade, you've probably got broken ribs by now from laughing at previous men's bball coaches as well. Doc Sandler has been the only .500 coach since Danny Nee. Shambles, please...guys like you love moments like this but always fail to see that this isn't exactly North Carolina playing down at Pinn Bank.
I've said this before, the bigger problem that I have with Timmy is this frequent exodus of key personnel, coaches and players alike that point to something being wrong with his program and culture. Someone with some insight into that I would love to hear. Can't build when someone keeps stealing concrete block from the foundation. Ever been to Jamaica? Nebrasketball is like one of those houses that looks half built. There might be a new piece here or there but it ain't exactly all put together. Some pieces look like they don't fit. Something's amiss with the program.

He likely doesn't want to play the 5. But he was forced to here because Miles crapped his pants for years recruiting the five. Also, last I checked in order to receive more minutes you have to be able to not foul. That's a major issue with Jordy. Now..instead of Morrow picking up minutes we have to rely on Miles AGAIN scouring the earth for any big guy or will have to watch Jacobson get beat down at the five.

Bulllllllll$#&+. Look at his offers out of high school. Wherever he goes he will end up with coaches who will figure out a way to use him. I hope wherever he goes he gets a chance to play Nebraska in 3 years so we can see what another coach can do WTH him.

We lose players after 1-2 years and the defenders say, they aren't any good. How the hell does no one see that the head guy is over his head?

Same reason likely Thurmond is leaving UNO.

I don't think Eichorst will be around too long. He might have 3 or 4 years left.

He can't play anywhere but the 5. He can't shoot. He can't dribble and he isn't quick enough to guard most of the 4s in the B1G. IF he's anywhere outside the low post his guy just bags off him to clog the paint. He is ZERO threat unless he has the ball deep and then most of the time he's so undersized that he can't get off a shot. And, I think Jake is better at guarding a 5 than Ed.

Tim Miles bonus. My sons and I would make 3!

No, no, no - "Jake" is gonna log 30-35 minutes at the 4 because of his uncanny ability to handle the ball and knock down jumpers at a 30% clip. I mean, as long as we're dreaming up explanations for why Morrow was totally going to lose playing time and that's why he's transferring, might as well toss that one out there.

Exactly who can shoot on this team?

Lots of guys...sometimes. It's a problem. I've posted it multiple times. We have the best talent we've had in years, but yet we don't have some of the young talent that other B1G teams with more tradition have. Almost all of our guys have holes in their games other than Roby. Of course I watched KU throwing up bricks the other night too so even they have off nights and a helluva lot more on the bench than we do.
