Do these so called jayskers also root for the creighton baseball team? Where does it start and stop? It's NOT ok to have dual allegiances just because one program wins more. What kind of fan is that? I will only root for you if you win?
Most Nebraskans rooted hard for Creighton in the College World Series, way back when Nebraska was an irrelevant program being coached by a do-nothing who thought he was entitled to the job for life.Do these so called jayskers also root for the creighton baseball team? Where does it start and stop?
I root for Creighton the same way I used to pull for the (then) Kearney State Lopers and Nebraska Wesleyan when they went on postseason runs - even though I didn't go to either school.Me personally I follow Creighton soccer and basketball. If any of their other teams make the ncaas I'll follow but Nebraska is 1 and Creighton is 2. A Jaysker is someone who roots for both squads to do well. Keep it positive. This year kinda worked out great. Nebraska beat them in basketball and Creighton had a program best run. Will be great if they can both have tourney success in the future. Love UNO sports too. Root for whom you want or against. In the end it does not matter.
Good. Couldn't happen to a better school other than Iowa or Texas's.In all fairness, Creighton did not play one of their best games
Yeah, I will say it, this is gay. This seems a bit much
I completely understand you cheering for Creighton.I can't believe I'm jumping into such a silly, juvenile argument, but here goes:
Born and raised in Omaha. Father played basketball for Creighton in the late 40s. He started taking me to Creighton games when Paul Silas was playing (early 60s). Many friends and family members have Creighton degrees. I graduated from Creighton Prep. A good friend and HS classmate played basketball for Creighton and still "boasts" about the night he held Larry Bird to 40. Attended more CU games then I can count through the years.
I have two UNL degrees and cheer for Nebraska in all sports, including when the Huskers play Creighton. But why would I hate Creighton? I pull for Creighton when the Jays play anyone but NU. If that makes me some sort of Jaysker in a derogatory sense, then so be it. Don't like it? I don't care.
I get the argument that, kinda like Notre Dame, Creighton is a national school that just happens to be located in Nebraska. There is some validity to that; the latest figures I've seen are that only 17% of Creighton students are from Nebraska and only 11% from Omaha. But Creighton is about as "Nebraska" as anything you can point to in the state. The Creighton family in large part built Omaha, dwarfing anything Warren Buffet or anyone else has done before or since. The university they established has educated generations of Nebraskans, many of whom, like my dad, were the first in their families to attend college. In decades past (up to about the early 60s), Creighton was far more of a regional school than it is today, with the vast, vast majority of students coming from Nebraska or contiguous states. It began recruiting nationally, like many other schools, to boost enrollment.
Good, highly rated institution, though I still like to gig my buddies about how Creighton's percentage of those who fail the bar exam is higher than Nebraska's. But it's all in fun, and your "hate" is silly and petty.
You don't know ball.Yes, correct call in a rec league game. Not in the elite 8 when you’ve been letting more blatant fouls go all game.
I can't get over how pathetic this is. Did he have it typed up and ready to tweet out or something? This seems a bit much
Ha...they do get a lot of crap! The only Jays that deserve your hate are the Creighton Prep Jays, Prep players and their parents are the worst.
And I played football there for a few years. We aren't that badHa...they do get a lot of crap!
I coached football there for a few years.
I did't really think so either. I think there was this idea that the kids and parents were "bad" but I never really saw it. Students were great (to me, I am sure on the weekends they loved to have fun and dick around) and I personally never had a bad interaction with a parent for the 6 seasons I coached there. And I played football there for a few years. We aren't that bad
I said the same thing when they did. Such a dumb playHated the last call because the refs allowed way more contact than that the entire game. The pretty boy ref who blew the whistle reacted to the head jerk, which I don't think was caused by a hand on the hip.
But McDermott shit the bed by ordering his players to give their 6th foul with 7 seconds left. Save that foul and use it at the start of the last drive. That was just a stupid decision that gave SDSU more of an opportunity to score.
Jays had their chances to take control of the game and didn't - and that's not on the refs. Should have gone to OT, though.
Yeah I don't know what they thought giving the 6th foul was going to accomplish. First, it eliminated any chance of getting the ball back with more than 1 or 2 seconds on the clock. And, it took away the opportunity to give a hard, early bump on the floor on any final drive into the lane. Just made no sense at all.I said the same thing when they did. Such a dumb play

Well I wouldn’t think a former prep coach or player would openly admit to the poor sportsmanship exhibited by prep fans and players. Just my experience as a father of Millard athletes, you two must be the exceptions that prove the rule. Anyway, I still attend games so there’s still time for me to have my first positive experience with prep athletics. Have a great week fellas. And I played football there for a few years. I never had issues with any fans from any of the schools. Most of the kids from all the schools were good too.Well I wouldn’t think a former prep coach or player would openly admit to the poor sportsmanship exhibited by prep fans and players. No kidding, what a donkey. Can we get a wellness check at the Bishop residence
Yes and whined about every one of those calls. Its all the sameThe funny thing about all the Jays crying is that IF the roles had been reversed, all we would hear from them is "a foul is a foul" and "you have to call that." Not a soul would be saying "we got lucky, we didn't deserve that break, SDSU got screwed." Nebrasketball deals with at least one call that bad or worse in every B1G conference game. Sometimes you're the windshield, sometimes the bug.
I don't know if there has ever been a loss of a team that I have enjoyed so much. Then the fact that they lost to a mid-major just makes if funnier."I don't necessarily dislike Creighton basketball, but I often dislike the people who like Creighton basketball."
Signed, many Omaha area Husker fans.
The creighton jealousy is strong around here. I will never understand it. They’re not a threat to Nebraska athletics at all, except maybe baseball. Basketball doesn’t count because creighton is not nor never has been the issue with Nebraska basketball. If UNL refuses to fix basketball, at least there is an in state option that provides basketball entertainment.
A husker fan started a thread to on the husker board to discuss creighton fans being upset…so some of them do.This is a Husker board and the Huskers suck. I get why Husker fans don't want to read about it on this board. I don't care what their thoughts are on it...but I get it.
Making fun = jealousy?A husker fan started a thread to on the husker board to discuss creighton fans being upset…so some of them do.

You have bagged on Creighton all year. Wrote that they were disappointing, underachievers, have no expectations, etc. They made it to the Elite Eight, which I would say at least met expectations seeing as they were preseason #10. Now you write that they lost to a mid-major who had just beaten Alabama by a million. And Creighton beat two power five schools and a Princeton team who beat Arizona and Missery. You always just write drivel. Admit that Creighton had a very successful season and that you are a full-on moron. What a loser you are.I don't know if there has ever been a loss of a team that I have enjoyed so much. Then the fact that they lost to a mid-major just makes if funnier.
Sad face.A husker fan started a thread to on the husker board to discuss creighton fans being upset…so some of them do.
This thread is the definition of “rent free”Making fun = jealousy?
We make fun of just about every FB team in the Big Ten...I don't think anyone is jealous of Northwestern.
