Volleyball What We Learned: John Cook's Tuesday Press Conference

John Cook conducted his weekly press conference at Memorial Stadium and gave insight into why he wasn't too upset after Sunday's loss to Ohio State. Plus, he explains why the offense needs to set the middle more and Ally Batenhorst makes an appearance after speaking to media at Devaney later that afternoon.

Recruiting Texas LB commit Dylan Rogers update...

Nebraska has a few commits in the class that have been fairly quiet since they joined the class and the program turmoil began. One of those players is certainly Texas three-star linebacker commit Dylan Rogers. He had a nice senior season with 69 tackles, 8 TFLs, a sack and an INT. While he hasn't said much publicly about Scott Frost and Erik Chinander being fired he had been on social media sharing graphics from other schools and tagging schools other than Nebraska when he shared his updated film.

The silence and social activity made people wonder if he was solid in the class. I reached out to him last night as I started checking around to see which commits were visiting this weekend. He won't be able to make it to Lincoln for the Wisconsin game but I did ask him directly if he is still solid with Nebraska. He said yes.

Take that for what it's worth because clearly things change quickly in recruiting. Nebraska will be hiring a new coach soon and there is a very little chance that Barrett Ruud will be back next season to coach the inside linebackers. Rogers is a versatile player though so he could fit in a number of defensive styles which should be appealing to the next coach at Nebraska.

Not that I care, but did the Mod's take down my post

About Mitch Sherman stating that a trucking company out of Omaha with financial ties to the program sent a plane yesterday from Omaha to Charlotte and back to Omaha.....with MR possibly onboard (he stated no one has disputed it). It was the company's own private plane.

Was it because I was providing information read on SB Nation?

Football Mickey Joseph updates Casey Thompson, Husker QBs ahead of Wisconsin game

Mickey Joseph said that Casey Thompson was back throwing at practice on Tuesday while Chubba Purdy is out with a high-ankle sprain that he will undergo surgery for in "two to three days."

That and more from the Huskers interim HC:

Football Stalk Up, Stalk Down: Javin Wright, Bill Busch, Trey Palmer

Didn't put this on the board because of all the craziness yesterday so I wanted to recirculate it.

There's not an array of positives to take out of Nebraska's loss to Michigan. But this week's Stalk Up, Stalk Down* is highlighted by Javin Wright, who earned his first career start and played a career-high 27 snaps while finishing as the defense's third-highest graded player. Heck of a comeback for Wright to get back on the field.

*Yes, it's a purposeful play on words between "stock" and "stalk" because they're the Cornhuskers

HC Hire Disappointment

As the HC Hiring Process and the season move along, the process is taking so long that whoever is hired will leave a high percentage of Fans upset and disappointed.

Be it Mickey, Meyer, Aranda, Rhule, Stoops, O’Brien or anyone else, there’s been so much time and emotion spent that most everyone has their Guy. It just won’t be The Guy for many.

the state of Ohio and OSU football

This is crazy

I surf through the different CF website and came across this topic on a couple of the OSU sites. It's over a politician - JD Vance - with Trump backing - that has scheduled a political rally at the same time an OSU football game with Toledo is scheduled on TV. Not Notre Dame, PSU or Michigan - it's Toledo. And he's getting ripped & questioned if he really knows and understands the state on a couple of the OSU sites. I realize how serious OSU football is to them, but Jesus

FWIW - Here's A Different Assessment of the most Watched Football Programs

As always, people can dispute the rankings in this or any report and claim the methodology is flawed. No problem, it's just one look and another reference point so there always are other (maybe more accurate ways to look at it). Nevertheless this study still is interesting. And Nebraska is ranked at #12 in this report. Meanwhile other B1G schools also are highly ranked: #1 Ohio State, #2 Michigan, #4 Penn State, #8 Michigan State, #10 Oregon, and #11 Wisconsin. Where's Notre Dame? Comes in at #9.

A few observations:

- It's from a point or period in time (Nebraska's ranking certainly isn't helped at all by being such a poor team on the field in recent years - likely would be higher with a decent team).

- There's a huge synergy involved with playing other highly watched teams as conference opponents (it really boosts your TV rankings).

- Hardly a surprise that Michigan vs. Ohio State is always at or near the top in views.

- Interesting that neither USC nor UCLA rank in the top 15. I'd guess though they will get a huge boost by playing the highly viewed B1G teams down the road.

- That TV watching synergy is what makes the B1G so powerful and valuable compared with other conferences, and

- That synergistic boost likely would really elevate Notre Dame to new heights of viewership IF it joined the B1G. They're not going to get that same kind of synergistic boost from other conferences. Of course maybe Notre Dame just doesn't care one iota about viewership - who knows. (This last point about ND is my opinion/conclusion.)

If the Husker basketball team had an all Nebraska Roster of 10.......

I know it is more fun right now to try and figure out which rumor is correct and who the new coach is going to be, but with the start of college basketball I have been looking around the country to see how former Nebraska high school kids are doing since not too many of them stayed home. Let me preface this by saying I have no problem with kids leaving the state for better opportunities, I also don't think we should be only offering all in state guys. It has just been an impressive run of talent in Nebraska the last few years. How many Big 10 games does this Roster win:

- Sam Greisel (Nebraska)
- Baylor Scheierman (Creighton)
- Chucky Hepburn (Wisconsin)
- Hunter Sallis (Gonzaga)
- Isaac Traudt (Virginia)
- John Tonje (Colorado St)
- Donovan Williams (Pacific)
- Jason Green (Creighton)
- Frankie Fidler (UNO)
- Aguek Arop (San Diego st)

I'm sure there are some other good players that I am forgetting, but those were the top 10 that came to mind. Definitely lacks size, but would be a fun group to watch and probably pretty competitive.

Anyway, back to Rhule vs. Urban vs. Deion vs. Aranda conversations.

TO Blessing Mickey

Even after the loss to Illinois expect Mickey to be named the coach here either before the season ends or soon after.
TO gave Trev the official blessing that he thinks Mickey deserves a shot to be head coach.
TO wants Mickey to get at least 4-5years like Frost did and knows 9 weeks is not enough when almost none of the players and coaches are Mickeys guys. TO has agreed to mentor MJ.
Ask a current recruits family about what Trev says about Mickey.

Mickey Joseph head football coach Nebraska. Congratulations coach.
