Urban

Don’t shoot the messenger.
Copied & pasted from my buddy’s account that works at a barbershop here in Lincoln:

Barbershop talk…
A huge NU donor gets his hair cut at our shop.. told us it’ll be announced after game. He was betting anyone who wanted the bet… the new head coach at NU is Urban Meyer‼️
He said deal with Baylor coach was almost done but he backed out. Trev threw the money at Urban. It’s a 4 year deal… 8 million a year. Mickey stays and is groomed to take over.
Said it’s beyond a done deal!
I’m excited… but we will see by Sunday if it’s true… but if u knew the source… I’d say it’s 99.9% FACTS..

GBR 🔥🔥🔥

You heard it here first... 😉😂🤷🏽‍♂️

Are we going to discuss Nebraska Basketball's early slotting in the RPI?

Pretty obvious this team is looking at a 3 seed right now for March according to the numbers.

Football Blueprint for Nebraska football is at Michigan not Ohio State

The Huskers need to embrace the lines of scrimmage and being a physical program or keep failing. Hit the link…

Be thankful for the transfer portal

Outside of that, we don’t have any PLAYERS on the field this season. Whoever the next coach is, he needs to pillage the next portal list. Quickest solution to a turnaround, and as for our scholarship depth, the cupboards are empty.

TP3, Grant, Mathis, Washington, and yes, Thompson, are the only players with a heartbeat on this team.

Brock Knutson talk on 1620 this morning

He's an OL commit from Scottsbluff and this morning on 1620, Gary and Ravi were talking about Brock and him having some issues stomping on players legs while they were on the ground. Sounds like he broke a kids leg by doing it in a game earlier this season. Also heard that he's done some other stuff that hasn't been caught on video. Guy who calls in later in the segment was at the Skutt game and said some stuff happened there too.

Below is the segment from today and a couple videos of him doing it.

Positive coverage in the Big Ten: Mickey

The guy is going to make one hell of a recruiting coordinator. Huge promotion for him.

Basketball WBB: Three thoughts from No. 20 Creighton's 77-51 win over No. 22 Nebraska

It was a rough night for Nebraska women's basketball who were blown out by a physically tough Creighton team.

The Bluejays are good and I see another deep NCAA Tournament run in its near future.

For the Huskers, it's time to reflect and learn.

Rumor mill

This is from someone I trust and has been right about injuries and such this year.

“It won't be from within but they do want to try and keep Mickey in a position. defensive coordinator has been impressive so he may play a role, but giving full reign to new coach coming in. They are looking for bright young star don't get caught up in hype of sanders and ruhle

Nebraska Fullback Postion: A Lost Art or a Big (10) Opportunity

Just a quick observation on the position:

Only a few teams ranked in the top 25 list a “Fullback” as a position on their roster this season. Two of those teams are in the Big Ten West: Wisconsin and Iowa (I don’t care how the coaches voted but Iowa will be in the top 25 when the season ends).

Wisconsin currently has three. Iowa currently has five. Both teams use the fullback to block and catch passes.

Interestingly enough, 18 out of 32 teams NFL teams field an active “Fullback” on their rosters.

Whipple used a blocking back (not listed as fullback) at Pitt last year, but based on the size of Nebraska’s current running back roster, only Yant would qualify at 235lbs.

Nightmare flashback to last year’s Minnesota game. 4th and 1. Shotgun formation with Yant alone in the backfield with no fullback. Yant stumbles and Minnesota stops the Huskers. A fullback and QB under center could have ended this game.

Any way, based on the successful history of Nebraska fullbacks, and the used of the two teams in the division, maybe its time to restore the Nebraska Fullback position to its former glory. Recruit for the position, get some strong, big backs, and start using the running game again.

Tom Rathman, Andra Franklin, Joel and Jeff Mackovica, and Corey Schlesinger come to mind.

Football Mickey Joseph wants NU to dig deep, find "extra grit" in final two games

“I’m a fan of guys who are trying to get it done by any means necessary, and that’s what he had to do."

More on Mickey Joseph, who's trying to pull out that "extra grit" for these final two games.

The number One reason NU needs an NFL

HC is recruiting. Callahan use his NFL coaching constantly to sell his ability to help the recruit get to the next level. Pelini was DB coach for Frisco, LB for New England & Green Bay, again he used his NFL coaching in recruiting. It's a huge plus for NU who desperately needs a few more difference makers if they are going to improve very much.

We also need an INOVATOR: If we're super lucky and get MR, he doesn't have a set of schemes he's married to, he studies the conference & then makes hires that fit what he believes is the best fit for who he can recruit. He's big at being very sound fundamentally & that doesn't happen with an overly complex system. The players will probably love the schemes. It may take 2 or 3 years to build, but should be a great hire.
