Current Scholarship Breakdown

Nice chart updated with the current roster breakdown.
Currently at 71 of 85 scholarships, with plenty of players still making decisions obviously.

There’s a lot of unknown with the younger players, but I would say overall, it looks relatively bleak to me, especially if any more key guys move on.
Ignoring talent, simply numbers alone show we’re very thin at WR, DL, OL right now.
Edge also a problem if Mathis and/or Nelson leave, and other positions razor thin with any attrition.

Got a lot of work to do.

Lincoln restaurant suggestions

I realize this has been talked about (too many times probably) but here’s what I’m looking for.

We own a condo in Lincoln and spend several weekends in Lincoln. Our go to’s are

Lazlo’s
Char 9 south grill
Granite city
Hero 88
Outback (love their blonde ale)
Isles pizza
Leadbelly

We’re looking for some new honey holes. Any suggestions would be awesome and appreciated. I hope by listing what I did doesn’t get me a bunch of “Applebees” and “Buffalo Wild Wings”. We’re looking for off the radar but really good food. Thanks!

Top 4 byes (highest ranked conf champs)

(1)Georgia - (2)Mich - (3)Clemson - (4)KSU (Utah possibly replace KSU but they were behind them in the last rankings)

Next 8 not seeded

Utah
USC
Osu
Penn St
Tcu
Bama
Tenn
Tulane - top G5 - replaces Washington who would have been in as the 12 seed

would likely have OSU (5) playing Tulane (12) with the winner getting KSU

Recruiting Nebraska Junior Day today [UPDATE: 10:40a.m.]

Matt Rhule and company will be hosting a Junior Day today on campus. It’ll be the first on-campus event for the new staff still being assembled.

I’ve been told that this one will have a heavy local flavor involving as many big players from Nebraska as possible. Nebraska will also aim to have multiple commits on campus today too.

I know for sure that 2024 Omaha Westside defensive back Caleb Benning will be in attendance.

As always we’ll continue to bring you more names confirmed to attend and reaction after the event.

>> 9:51 a.m. UPDATE: 2023 Omaha Westside wide receiver Jaylen Lloyd has confirmed he will be at Junior Day. Lloyd was coach Rhule’s first in-state scholarship offer.

>> 10:00 a.m. UPDATE: Class A title game hero K Tristan Alvano will be in Lincoln today. My opinion: he’s a must get this cycle.

Also, 2024 WR Dae’vonn Hall will not be in Lincoln today. Neither will 2024 OL Caleb Pyfron who had a prior conflict.

>> 10:28 a.m. UPDATE: 2024 Bellevue West QB Daniel Kaelin will be at Junior Day.

>> 10:39 a.m. UPDATE: 2025 Omaha North DL/OL Tyson Terry has confirmed he will be in Lincoln today.

>> 1:01 p.m. UPDATE: A trio of in-state commits are going to be on campus which is no surprise but still good.

Anyone else’s respect for Pelini go up?

When Pelini was here, I thought he was a decent but not great coach. I despised his out of control behavior, lazy/mediocre recruiting efforts, arrogance, attitude towards fans, and trend of worsening defenses. By the end he had burned a lot of bridges and many disliked him, including me.

When he was fired I was surprised, however, as he had won 9-10 games every season. I was aghast when we followed him up with Mike Riley.

The Riley and Frost years have made me realize that Pelini was a better coach than I gave him credit for. He is a flawed individual, but it is too bad a way forward with us was never found.

Anyway, I hope he gets another head coaching gig because I think he deserves it. 7 straight years of 9-10 win seasons looks damn good right now.
