Football Sources: Matt Rhule has found his Chief of Staff

Sources have indicated to Inside Nebraska that Dr. Susan Elza will be named the next Chief of Staff at Nebraska under Matt Rhule. Elza has been the University Interscholastic League Director of Athletics in Texas since being hired for the position in 2015. The University Interscholastic League is the Texas version of the NSAA as Elza oversees the UIL athletic department and administers athletic activities for member schools.

Elza had previously served as the Executive Director of Athletics at Northwest Independent School District in Fort Worth, Texas. She’s also served as Assistant Athletic Director of Allen Independent School District as well as the head softball coach for both Garland and Allen. Elza received her Doctorate of Educational Leadership from Lamar University.

If hired, this is a power move for Rhule, who continues to use his connections in Texas to land a powerful figure in Texas high school sports. With his emphasis on bringing Lone Star State talent to Nebraska, Dr. Elza’s hire would be indicative of how much Rhule and his staff plan to attack the state.

Basketball Three Things to Watch: Nebraska faces Maryland in swing game for Huskers

Nebraska is in dangerous territory right now of experiencing a swoon similar to the first three seasons of the Fred Hoiberg Era.

The Huskers can stop the bleeding on Saturday against a Maryland team that has been inconsistent throughout the season and has gone W, L, W, L, W over its last five games.

I labeled this a "swing game" for the Huskers. It's not a swing game in the traditional sense of the phrase. It's not as if a win over the Terps has the potential to completely turn their season around. But a win would get things back on a good track and could definitely go a long way in helping them avoid a collapse over the final-third of the season.

Scholarship Distribution & use of NIL funds

I saw this and thought it was a very interesting proposal. Could we establish NIL scholarship funds and revamp our walk-on program for recruits/players who should absolutely be on scholly? This could help establish incredible depth across all position groups. Sure, it would almost certainly create increased attrition, but who cares if you can start over-signing every class by 10 or 20?

After witnessing some of the chippiness in some of the threads today, I think maybe we lose sight of what's important in life. At the end of the day, what someone says on a message board doesn't mean squat.

Above is a cool video of a good deed done by a musician for a little girl that's been battling cancer for 4 years. I saw it on the mainboard and that some of you may enjoy it here.
