Mike Leach telling story about playing @Nebraska

*** Start at 12:25 mark***

After Mike Leach told the press he had picked just one captain at WSU, (and it was based upon his winning on the Price Is Right) he went on to talk about playing in Lincoln when he had "a committee of captains."

While at Texas Tech his group of captains evidently messed up the coin toss and Tech had to kick off both halves. It's a pretty hilarious story. (It didn't help us as we got pounded by the Red Raiders that day.)

can thompson run enough for rhule's offense?

I think thompson has the best arm I see at NU for along time.
but you can tell he don't like to run...
I know pass happy whipple probably yelled at him to hit his 3rd reciver,
but when there would be areas of green infront of thompson, you could tell he's not a runner.
so I don't know if he's gonna work for rhules offense, plus he seems kinda fragile..

also can smothers pass good enough for rhules offense?

from what I can gather, adrian would have been a great qb for rhules offense.
seems like he wants his qb to do both run and pass.

if we get the gt qb, we probably need one more..
because thompson and smothers are outta spring ball with sugery
purdy has a hurt foot..
and we need a qb to know rhules offense asap! at least 1 qb..

Breaking News Malachi Coleman decommits from Nebraska

It may not be a big surprise, but it's nonetheless a big blow to the Huskers' 2023 class. Nebraska loses its top-ranked recruit in the class who was viewed as arguably the most important in-state recruit in the last decade and one of the biggest individual recruiting wins in the Big Ten in the 2023 cycle.

Volleyball Big Ten Defensive POTY Kylie Murr enters the transfer portal.

The transfer portal is hopping folks.

2022 B1G Defensive Player of the Year Kylie Murr has entered the transfer portal. Buckeye outside hitter Gabby Gonzales also entered the portal as they look for a home in their graduate student season. Both are taking advantage of their extra COVID year. Ohio State is facing a scholarship crunch with five new freshman coming in.

Nebraska might reach out, but they don’t have a scholarship to give her and she might not want to move to DS with Lexi Rodriguez at libero. You never know. Maybe the Huskers get her some NIL deals to pave the way to Lincoln.

***New Commit*** New Jersey RB Kwinten Ives commits to Nebraska

Nebraska added commitment No. 13 on Sunday when running back Kwinten Ives joined the class. He put up 1,617 yards and 26 touchdowns as a senior.

More commits are expected from the weekend.

Assistant coach salary pool

USA Today released their 2022 college football coaching salary study last week.

If Nebraska had paid $7M total for assistants in 2022 they would have ranked 9th nationally and 2nd in the Big 10 (behind OSU). The $5.15M Nebraska did pay in 2022 ranked 30th nationally and 7th in the Big 10.

There were 45 assistant coaches who made $1M+ (Whip ranked 69th at $875K; Chins was 81st at $850K)

Football Former Huskers DB Jaeden Gould is transferring to Syracuse

Jaeden Gould, the No. 1-ranked player in Nebraska's 2022 signing class, is one of 15 Huskers who have entered the transfer portal and has become the first to officially join a new program.

The New Jersey native is returning to the East Coast to play for Syracuse – which, of course, just saw DC Tony White take the Huskers' DC job.

Nebraska's athletic director was on the radio Tuesday night. Here's a quick rundown of what he talked about, which included a spring game detail:

Basketball Nebraska makes strong impression on Baye Ndongo: "I’ve never seen anything like that"

Sounds like Nebraska has positioned itself well for 2023 forward Baye Ndongo, who visited Lincoln last weekend for the Purdue game.
