Awesome stuff from MJ Sherman today. Interviewed him in 2019 and was impressed then and I was impressed again this morning. Hit the link.

Bunting/N-Baseball

I've never been a huge baseball fan so definitely no guru here (only ever watched some Nebraska Baseball) but what gives with the random bunting by W. Bolt? Do you all think it's justified? I understand reasons for bunting like moving guys forward to get a guy in scoring position or throwing another team off a little but why does Bolt to it randomly when our bats are hot? I noticed in the Omaha, Creighton, Illinois1, Illinois2 and N. Dakota games our bats were hot for an inning or so and we were getting runs, then all the sudden or next inning Bolt try's bunting and it completely throws this good hitting team out of rhythm. I feel like W. Bolt is just like Frost in that he constantly needs to try and put his touch on the game and try's to fix things that aren't broke. Is this just coaching inexperience or just an ego thing with these young coaches?

Football Spring Practice No. 6: Press conferences with Knighton, Cooper, players (with video)

DL coach Terrance Knighton, secondary coach Evan Cooper, MJ Sherman, Malcolm Hartzog and Omar Brown all met with the media after the Huskers' sixth practice today. We'll have more coming shortly with quick hits, takeaways and some feature stories.

Knighton was first up, saying his DL group has mostly been focused on working on the fundamentals thus far. He also discussed some of the EDGE types on the roster who are working with him and LB coach Rob Dvoracek. He named Sherman, Jimari Butler and Princewill Umanmielen as a few of the guys working with both coaches who can be a standup rusher and put their hand in the dirt.

Football Analysis of Nebraska defensive coach, player pressers

Hopped on a video podcast with @Greg Smith and @Steve Marik after Thursday's defensive press conferences with Terrance Knighton, Evan Cooper, Omar Brown, Malcolm Hartzog and MJ Sherman.

We broke down our biggest takeaways, including Greg discussing Sherman opening up about his "anxiety" in leaving Georgia, Steve on an exciting potential role for Brown and me talking about the highly intriguing Jimari Butler – who Knighton has been impressed with through six spring practices.

Football ***Live Thread: Spring practice No. 5

Hey, everyone.

The Inside Nebraska crew will be at the open portion of this morning's practice, the team's fifth of spring ball. Same deal as last time — we'll get about the first 40 minutes to watch, from about 8:20-9 a.m. We'll post any updates, pictures or videos that we can.

Matt Rhule and 2-3 players will then hold a press conference after, and we'll have full coverage of that on the site today.

Big Ten West Returning Combined starts on the Offensive Line

These numbers could change after the Spring. A few teams might add a transfer or two. I also added current transfer FBS starts to these numbers below. For instance, Luke Fickell brought his starting Center from the last 3 seasons with him.

1. Nebraska - 121 - Transfer Center Ben Scott arrives with 28 starts. Nebraska still leads all Big Ten teams with combined offensive line starts in Big Ten games only.
2. Wisconsin - 96 - Transfer Center Jack Renfro started 31 games at Cincinatti
3. Iowa - 82 - LT Mason Richman might be the 2nd best LT in the Big Ten
4. Purdue - 74 - Center Gus Hartwig is the Big Ten's top returning Center
5. Illinois- 54 - LT Julian Pearl might be top Tackle in the Big Ten
6. Minnesota - 29 - LT Aironte Ersery is a future NFL Player - Give Fleck some credit. Kid was recruited out of Ruskin High School in Kansas City. One of the worst HS programs in the KC area.
7. Northwestern - 11 - And their LG accounts for 9 of those 11 starts

Its impossible to predict the future, but Nebraska could seriously return all 10 linemen in their two deep for 2024 as well. Its quite possible that the QB taking snaps in 2024 could be play behind the most experienced Offensive Line in College Football.

OT: John Wick 4

There was a thread on the free board, but I think we need one here :)

Saw this Sunday night. DANG! What a good movie. Obviously absurd and there's some suspension of basic physics or beliefs (but that's kinda the point with Wick) but man the choreography of the fight scenes and the cinematography work were just flat incredible.

It's been so successful they're actively looking at making #5.

Which is crazy since he died...but they're talking about writing a way out of that. Kind of annoying to me tho that they killed him anyway...which will probably ruin it for me if they try to bring him back.

The only way it could possibly work is if this is a prequel or something. Don't f'ing insult us and say he wasn't dead.

Football Ethan Piper is having fun and ready to "rock and roll"

"We have a little bit of confidence after beating Iowa and we just have to keep rolling with that.”

Ethan Piper is an important member of Nebraska's O-line room, even if he's not a sure-fire starter. He said he's having the most fun he's ever had this spring, and it's because the line has a pep in their step after how last season ended. Here's more:
