Big Ten National Champions since 1970

With Michigan and Ohio State choking last night it’s time we examine how Nebraska has been carrying this conference for the last 50 years. Since Modern football in the 70s Nebraska has won 5 National Championships.

Iowa-0
Michigan-1
Penn State-2
Ohio State-3
NEBRASKA-5

It’s time for the Big10 to quit worrying about money and win some games instead of riding our coattails of the last 50 years.

Breaking News Per report, Bob Wager hired as Nebraska TE, assistant special teams coach

According to a report, Nebraska has hired Bob Wager to coach its tight ends and be a special teams assistant. Hit the link:

Bob Wager - New Husker Coach?

“Met” him at Isles tonight as he sat down at our table and spent about 20min ‘grilling’ us about living in Lincoln and the Huskers.

In town with his entire family (wife, son, daughter) and was inquiring about best high schools for his daughter who does cheerleading.

Seems clear to me he’s being considered for one of the remaining coordinator positions, but it felt like he hadn’t accepted yet and needed his family’s approval for the move (or he was just trying to reaffirm his decision).

Son is a running-back and will likely be walking on next year, if I had to guess.

EDIT - I meant position coach not coordinator for the people with sticks up their bungs. Jebus.

if you haven’t seen it.

I thought he was a still the best NBA player ever. Nobody played offense like he did in all aspects of his game, which also improved over time and got back and played defense like he did against Steve and the New Jersey Nets, who were horrible he never wanted to lose in the competitors is the athletic ability in the work ethic has never been matched especially at guard spot who isn’t 7 feet or more

That's not so noteworthy but what is worth passing along is that I heard from Williams this morning. He told me that he has heard from Nebraska's new staff and he believes they are coming to visit him on Monday. Williams is open to a return official visit to Lincoln too. His initial conversation with Terrance Knighton seems to have gone pretty well.

Coach Prime

Sanders actually puts a name card in front of him with "Coach Prime".

Personally, I have always liked Deion Sanders, but the best coaches don't make it about them. They do a great job, the team wins, and they collect their money. What would you think if Nick Saban changed his title to Coach 7 Natty?

It's impossible to know what will really happen, but the combination of:

1. A coach that's all about him
2. Prime trying to relate to a local recruiting base that's mostly non-Africian American kids, causing him to go elsewhere for all of his players, eventually alienating the locals (where have we seen this before?)
3. Cold weather and high altitude
4. A university that isn't all that interested in big time football anymore (this makes them beating us under Frost sting the most)
5. Few to none of his coaches have any experience coaching in the P5 or higher (one of Frost's staff's problems)
6. Average facilities and stadium
7. A campus environment chock full of distractions
8. Legalized Marijuana

I may be wrong, but because of all of the above and also because it's pretty clear that Prime has a high school mentality that games are basically won with the best skill players (and not up front), it just doesn't seem that this will go well.
