An old high school classmate of mine hand builds/forges some amazing custom knives. All hand forged damascus, razor sharp, exemplary build quality. All come with a hand, tooled/fabricated leather sheath. They’re not cheap…but quality never is.

I own a couple, and can vouch for the quality.

Great fund raising event last night in Elkhorn at the Relevant Center for Jerry Murtaugh’s Nebraska Greats Foundation. Oregon Coach Dana Altman was the main guest and had many K-State and Creighton stories. Nick Baugh subbed for Kyle Korver, who was a late scratch because of NBA team playoff commitments, in a fun exchange of stories with Coach Altman. Coach Rhule, Governor Pillen, Eric Crouch, Johnny Rodgers, and Jerry Murtaugh were all there.

Good stories of help that the Foundation has provided to Nebraska college athletes including NU BBaller Bernard Day, and CU Josh Jones who were in attendance and shared their stories.

Thanks to all the volunteers that spend many personal hours to support this charity. Great Event!

Frank Solich is back in the building at Memorial Stadium.

The Nebraska football legend has made his first return to the facilities in nearly 20 years to be honored at halftime of tomorrow's spring game.

He met with the Nebraska media on Friday afternoon for a little over 15 minutes to talk about his return, why he was ready to come back, some of the memories from his days with the program, his belief in Matt Rhule, the direction of Husker football under the new head coach and plenty more.

Solich: “It makes a lot of sense to be back. I spent a lot of time on that field. ... Coach Rhule, when he got to town he got a hold of Coach Osborne. He texted me some, we texted back and forth and talked on the phone maybe once, maybe twice. That wasn’t happening before, so I just felt welcomed in that manner ... and knew it would be good to get back and be a part of what Nebraska’s all about again."

Rhule is an absolute hard a** in terms of demanding high intensity at every step of practice/workouts/etc. - but my student said the level of confidence among the team has risen dramatically already because there is that type of buy-in and intensity among EVERYONE trying to make this Husker FB team great again ... all the coaches are just as bought in and just as hard working/self demanding, the strength staff, the nutrition staff, and down the line ...

he told me that the feeling among the players is a total belief in Rhule ... a head coach who is rock solid confident in what he's doing because he's seen it work and knows it works and they know from his history that it works too ... so the buy in part was initially pretty easy but now it's more out of a place of passion/love ... a chance to be coached by one of those special coaches who wins the big games and takes you places as a player that you dream of when you sign up to go to a school like Nebraska

It's that time again to keep track of the visitors coming to campus. This weekend will be Matt Rhule's first Red-White Spring Game at Nebraska so the excitement is high. At this point around 60k tickets have been sold, Frank Solich will be honored and new but old blonde Herbie will make his debut. There will be many recruits on hand to get a look at what might be the best atmosphere in the country for a spring game. Let's run down who Rivals has confirmed will be in attendance.

Heading out on Friday for spring game, from Colorado. It has been a while, can't wait to get there. First spring game I have been to. Got 3 friends coming out with me. We are all retired and big Husker fans, so road trip it is. We are all looking to load up on some new Husker apparel. Could I get some advice from my fellow Huskers. Best place to go for Husker stuff. Also a good place to go pregame for a beverage or two. Thanks for the help, Go Big Red!!!

Ok now that we know it will be 1 vs 1 who do you think the 11 on offense and the 11 on defense will be for the first snap. I know it's not all of our "starters due to injuries and such and there is still a long way to go till fall. But who do you think is out there Saturday?

We are scheduled to meet with Matt Rhule and a few selected players today for the last presser before post-spring game availability.

The team's practice today was moved from the morning to the evening, and we will be talking with Rhule + players here shortly, prior to team meetings and practice.

I'm late on this as it happened around noon today, but Kario Oquendo, a 6-foot-4, 220-pound guard who spent the past two seasons at Georgia, has Nebraska in his final four. I've been told that a visit hasn't been scheduled yet.

Oquendo began his career at Florida SouthWestern College, where he was a first-team All-Southern Conference member as a freshman in 2020-21. He averaged 13.5 points, 3.8 rebounds and 1.3 assists that season. From there, he transferred to Georgia where he was the Bulldogs' leading scorer in the 2021-22 season (15.2 ppg). In SEC action, he averaged 18.3 points per game.

This past season Oquendo averaged 12.7 points and 2.6 rebounds per game. In two seasons at Georgia, he's a 27% 3-point shooter (72-of-267) and a 72% free-throw shooter (218-of-299).

Thankfully, Winter (Frost) is in our rearview mirror. Here's to hoping for sunnier days ahead
