SIAP: ESPN Article on Rhule rebuild at Nebraska

Lots of good stuff here…telling stuff from Trev as well:

We had to go find some guy who grew up in New York City to be an authentic Nebraskan," Athletic director Trev Alberts said with a chuckle. "This place needs to get back to being Nebraska, which at its best has a general unity and sense of purpose surrounding the program."

GBR!

OT-car guys, 2 very different Q's

#1) Continuous variable transmission? Any concerns? Looking at a new car and this is the tranny

#2) Vintage cars. Generally speaking do they appreciate over time? This would be an investment type of deal. I understand it's all about what you pay for it. Haven't talked any $$ yet. I'm sure this gent has done his homework and knows what it's worth but he also strikes me as very reasonable. It's a 1940 Buick. Only seen it once a year ago. Been in their family since it was purchased new and looks like it's been inside for most of that time. He has had the engine and transmission rebuilt. As far as I know it's all original. Not sure about the paint, though. Looks pretty mint to me but I have no idea what to look for.

As you can tell, I'm not a car guy. I wouldn't mind buying it and putting it in a garage for 20 years if there is some money to be made. Any suggestions/advice/tips/etc would be appreciated. TIA

Why does this staff suck at recruiting Florida?

When they were hired I thought we would pull a lot of talent from Florida. The staff had a lot of great connections in Florida, but we haven't signed hardly anybody let alone any elite talent.

2018
Dominick Watt - Didn't make it
Miles Jones - High hopes this year
CJ Smith - Left
Justin McGriff - Left
Braxton Clark - RFr might contribute some time
Willie Canty - Didn't make it

2019
Nobody

2020
Tamon Lynum - 5.6, 3 star DB

Looks like we are out of the picture with any 4 star from Florida. Maybe a slim chance with XZavier Henderson, Ladarius Tennison, or Arian Smith, but I haven't heard any recruiting information about any of them.

Very surprised this staff is doing so poor in Florida with their history and numerous connections that they have down there. Is there any reason for the lack of recruits from Florida?

Would the B1G deserve to be a P5 conference without Michigan and Ohio State?

I would think so, because they would still have Nebraska and they have USC coming in next year, so I would say yes, absolutely.

Contrast that with the Big 12. They will lose Texas and Oklahoma, next year but they will still remain a Power 5 conference despite having no blue bloods. For those who bring up TCU beating Michigan, in order for TCU to get their shot at Michigan, they had to go thru Oklahoma and Texas to get there. However, starting in 2024, that won't be the case.

This is crazy! 22 high school recruits by the end of June

We're at 91 now so we'll have to lose 6 to get to 85 for this fall. We only have 10 seniors, so as of now, we'll have to lose 12 underclassmen. If we get say 10 more from HS, portal, JUCO, a total of 22 will have to go. Taking into account a few that came this year that will leave, Rhule will have flipped 75% of the roster in one year. He's doing it differently, but he's getting into PRIME territory.

Just how bad was our roster at the start of 2022?!!!
