#1) Continuous variable transmission? Any concerns? Looking at a new car and this is the tranny
#2) Vintage cars. Generally speaking do they appreciate over time? This would be an investment type of deal. I understand it's all about what you pay for it. Haven't talked any $$ yet. I'm sure this gent has done his homework and knows what it's worth but he also strikes me as very reasonable. It's a 1940 Buick. Only seen it once a year ago. Been in their family since it was purchased new and looks like it's been inside for most of that time. He has had the engine and transmission rebuilt. As far as I know it's all original. Not sure about the paint, though. Looks pretty mint to me but I have no idea what to look for.
As you can tell, I'm not a car guy. I wouldn't mind buying it and putting it in a garage for 20 years if there is some money to be made. Any suggestions/advice/tips/etc would be appreciated. TIA
